We had the good fortune of connecting with Malury Imbernon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Malury, why did you pursue a creative career?
My journey into the arts, particularly the music industry, has always been guided by genuine passion. Despite growing up in a family deeply rooted in the medical field—my father being a successful healthcare entrepreneur—I found myself naturally gravitating toward creative expression. Music and arts resonated with my soul in ways that medicine never could. Even from a young age, I deliberately sought out friendships with fellow artists outside my academic circle, creating a community where I truly belonged. What’s fascinating is that I can spend countless hours immersed in my creative work and it never feels like labor—it’s pure joy. Observing my father’s dedicated work ethic, I had an important realization: if I was going to commit that level of dedication to my career, it should be in a field that not only brings me personal fulfillment but also allows me to make a meaningful impact on others’ lives. That’s the beautiful duality of an artistic career—it nourishes my spirit while creating experiences that touch people’s hearts.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My journey began in Venezuela, where I studied audio engineering before relocating to the US to pursue Media Arts and Animation. After completing an internship at a prominent recording studio in Venezuela, my current business partner and I established our first modest studio in my home garage. We started from scratch—there’s something incredibly empowering about building something with your own hands. At that time, the industry was transitioning from analog recording and ADAT systems. I was one the first ones to use Pro Tools, which later became an industry standard.

As Venezuela’s political climate deteriorated toward communism, I made the difficult decision to leave. I foresaw limited opportunities for private enterprises in that environment. I furthered my education in the United States, studying Media Arts and Animation while my business partner, Adrian Morales Demori, maintained our studio operations. I discovered a profound passion for visual arts, and the combination of my audio and visual expertise created what felt like a perfect professional synergy.

Upon completing my studies, I established our business in the US, inviting Adrian to join me. We secured a warehouse in Fort Lauderdale—essentially starting over in a new country—and flourished. We expanded beyond music production into various audio-visual disciplines, working with popular independent bands during an era when artists would spend months in-studio creating albums. I traveled extensively to secure clients from major markets like Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York. Our growth eventually led us to our current 3,200-square-foot facility in Downtown Miami.

In Miami, we began working directly with major labels such as Sony Music, Warner, Universal, among others, and leading the creative and production processes for high-profile clients such as Burger King, Popeyes, and Tim Hortons. Our engineering accomplishments include “Loud: The History of Reggaeton,” a #1 global podcast produced by Spotify. Our audio post-production portfolio encompasses television series, documentaries, films, video games, and live sound for major artists. We take immense pride in operating as an independent, woman-owned studio with sponsorships from brands like Roland and IK Multimedia.

Like any business journey, ours has had its challenges. One of our most difficult periods occurred recently when the Huntington Building, our historic home, was abruptly closed by the Fire Department. With no notice and being heavily dependent on our acoustically-designed space, the two-year closure dealt a significant blow to our operations. We had to cancel client sessions while continuing to bear maintenance costs. This crisis, however, forced us to diversify into location-independent services. Though incredibly challenging, we managed to adapt and overcome. Since reopening in August last year, our recovery has exceeded expectations.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For visitors to Miami, I’d create an experience that balances the city’s natural beauty with its vibrant culture. I’m naturally drawn to peaceful settings, so I’d start by taking them to the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) area—a tranquil spot where I often go to read and reflect, conveniently located near both my home and studio.
For a taste of Miami Beach without the overwhelming tourist crowds, I’d suggest spending time at Soho Beach House, where the elegant atmosphere creates a perfect backdrop for meaningful conversations. I’m particularly fond of experiences that connect us with nature, so I’d also recommend exploring the lesser-known natural sanctuaries that showcase Florida’s unique ecosystem.
While shopping typically isn’t my preferred activity, most visitors to Miami have it high on their agenda. Rather than imposing my preferences, I believe in creating space for my guests to pursue their interests, so I’m always open to adjusting plans based on what would make their Miami experience most memorable. My philosophy as a host is simple: authentic experiences matter more than tourist checkboxes, and sometimes the best moments come from spontaneous decisions rather than rigid itineraries.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My spiritual foundation has been my greatest source of strength throughout my journey. The book that transformed my perspective is Zhuan Falun, the principal text of Falun Dafa, which teaches cultivation of mind and body through the principles of Truth, Compassion, and Tolerance, complemented by gentle exercises and meditation. These principles serve as my compass in both personal and professional endeavors. What this practice has given me is invaluable—it’s taught me to look inward when facing challenges rather than seeking external solutions, to prioritize others’ needs, and to approach my client relationships with genuine integrity, regardless of personal gain. The entertainment industry is demanding and fast-paced, but my meditation practice helps me maintain mental clarity, allowing me to make decisions from a centered state of mind rather than from emotional reactivity or ego. This internal equilibrium has been essential to my mental wellbeing and overall health, enabling me to navigate complex situations with grace and make choices aligned with my deeper values. In this balanced state, I find my most creative solutions and build my most meaningful connections.
