We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Schild and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
It was during Covid that I pivoted from event planning & floral design to moss art & walls. It was a time that we were spending a lot more time indoors & concerns of mental health & well being were being brought to light. As humans, our relationship to nature has a direct impact on our overall health – reducing stress, increasing performance, & elevating our mood. Moss walls allow that relationship to be nurtured while indoors, without any maintenance on the moss. I love working with my hands, creating art & spaces that have a positive impact on others. It seemed like a win-win for me.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart is 1 – my attention to detail. Every piece of moss is intentionally selected with purpose, how it fits in with the overall design. 2 – I incorporate other organic elements, textures, and colors into my design that makes it truly original, for instance a pink backdrop or using limestone, mirrors, compound paste, etc. I love to hear about my clients vision or inspiration & creatively collaborating to bring their vision to life. I am most excited about future collaborations with other artists.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Having recently moved back to Miami after a year in North Florida, I must say I’m a little out of the loop. I recently went to BOHO which I would definitely take an out of town friend to. Some hot yoga at Oasis & walk around Wynwood. We would definitely have to stop at The Last Carrot for lunch, and Atchana’s in the Grove, Coconut grove farmers market. A trip to the beach would be a must. Visiting Fairchild, The Kampong, & Vizcacya would also make the list. If it lined up, a morning with Miami Made at Ironside for some early morning connection & inspiration.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
At the time, I was a member of BNI and Miami Made. The individual members & groups were extremely supportive of my pivot & helped to bring me projects & elevate my business.
