Meet Freddie Marien | Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Freddie Marien and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Freddie, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important lesson in my career has been to follow your intuition. If you have an idea you know has the potential to perform well, you owe it to yourself to see it through. Million-dollar ideas sit in graves simply because people did not take action due to self-doubt. It is normal to be uncomfortable about pursuing your ideas, but do not let yourself or outside noise sway your purpose. Whatever it is you want out of life is completely possible if you follow your intuition.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My content is centered around ranking categories within pop culture and anime. What separates my work from others is not what I display but how I display it. I try to innovate the social media space as best as I can by separating from what everybody else does through unique formats.
I’m most proud of my growth in confidence. I remember first picking up a camera and being nervous to speak to it. I could barely edit a video and took weeks just to be confident enough to press upload, simply because I was afraid of how I would be perceived. Today, I have no hesitation when filming, editing, and reaching out to others. This growth has applied to almost all parts of my life, and I’m grateful for that. This progression was difficult, but worth it at the same time.
A lesson I learned on this journey is to fake it until you make it. Cliche as it sounds, it’s true. With how fast life moves, there won’t always be time to “get ready” for opportunities. Sometimes you need to take advantage of these opportunities regardless of how confident you feel. Turning your brain off and diving headfirst can yield results you never thought were possible if you stay overthinking.
What I want the world to know about my story is that you do not need to be special to accomplish your goals. Nobody starts as an expert in their field; they just took action over a long period of time.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shoutout to a YouTuber named Elliot Choy. Back when I first started college, I was completely lost in life. Stumbling upon his videos inspired me to start making videos of my own. Seeing another person my age create an online career through documenting his life inspired me to dream bigger and pursue my own path on the internet. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but I can confidently say it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life.
