We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Libertad and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Ever since I was a little girl in Cuba, art was the one space where I could truly breathe. Music, painting, and performance were never hobbies — they were lifelines. I didn’t pursue an artistic career because I wanted fame or validation. I pursued it because it’s the only way I feel alive.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is a reflection of my soul — raw, emotional, sensual, and deeply honest. I’m a Cuban singer, pianist, songwriter, painter, and performer. My music blends Latin alternative pop and Afrobeats with emotional storytelling, and my visual art — especially my series of painted dolls — explores identity, femininity, and transformation.
What sets me apart is my intensity, my vulnerability, and my vision. I don’t create just to entertain — I create to awaken, to connect, to break silence. My work is deeply personal, but it’s also meant to be universal. I want people to feel seen when they hear my voice or look at my art.

What I want the world to know is this: I’m not here to fit in. I’m here to build something new. Something that feels like freedom, like color, like sweat, like truth.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’d start the week slow and sensual — breakfast at a Cuban café in Little Havana (definitely café con leche and tostadas), and then a walk through Domino Park to feel the old soul of the neighborhood. Later we’d check out Wynwood Walls for the art and street vibes, and have lunch at Zak the Baker or Bakan for amazing tacos.
At night? We’d get dressed up and go dancing — maybe at El Santo, The Anderson, or even a salsa spot where the music is hot and the lights are low. I’d make her feel like we were in a movie.
The most important thing? We’d laugh, talk deep, listen to music late into the night, and dream out loud. Because for me, the most exciting thing in Miami isn’t just a place — it’s the energy. It’s electric, sensual, creative. And I’d want her to feel all of it.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have so many people and forces to thank for where I am. First and foremost, I want to recognize my mom. Her strength, her resilience, and the way she protected my creative spirit — even when life was incredibly hard — planted the seed for everything I do.
I also want to honor the women who shaped my artistic soul from afar: Rosalía, Margaret Keane, and Omara Portuondo. Each of them, in their own way, taught me that emotion is power, that artistry can be fearless, and that roots matter.
These women showed me that it’s possible to be vulnerable and magnetic at the same time — to carry your culture, your pain, and your sensuality without asking for permission.
Lastly, I want to thank the close friends and collaborators who believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. This journey is not a solo act — it’s a chorus of love, legacy, and fire that echoes through everything I create.
