Meet Jamara Brooks-Parmer | Wife, Mother, Serial Entrepreneur & Author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamara Brooks-Parmer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jamara, what are you inspired by?
I’m inspired by my children, the mission of my Business Uniqly Made Foundation, and most profoundly, by the life and legacy of my UniqWarrior, Jahmya. Losing Jahmya changed everything. It broke me and built me at the same time. Her strength, her light, and the fight she carried within her continue to live on through me. Her journey fuels my purpose, reminding me daily why I do this work.
My children inspire me by simply being who they are: resilient, beautiful, and full of potential. They are my motivation to lead with love, to stay grounded, and to push forward even when it’s hard.
Through Uniqly Made Foundation, I honor Jahmya and every UniqSoul who may feel unseen. Our mission is to uplift, empower, and make space for healing because I’ve lived the pain, and now I choose to live the purpose.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art through Uniqly Made Foundation is rooted in purpose, love, and legacy. One of the most meaningful ways I express that is by creating custom superhero capes for UniqWarriors, children with medical complexities, rare conditions, or unique challenges, along with matching capes for their comfort bears. These capes are more than fabric and thread. They are symbols of strength, bravery, and identity. They remind each child that they are seen, valued, and celebrated just as they are.
What sets this apart is that it comes from lived experience. I started Uniqly Made in honor of my daughter Jahmya, who was medically complex and now rests in heaven. She was and always will be my UniqWarrior. Walking the medical journey with her gave me firsthand understanding of what it means to be a caregiver, to feel alone, to wish for a village and a voice. My art grew from that need to build what I didn’t have and to give what I wished someone had given me and my daughter.
Now that Jahmya is gone, I am continuing this initiative with more gratitude, more compassion, and a deeper sense of purpose. Her legacy is the heart of Uniqly Made and her light guides everything I do. I now offer an added layer of love and support for families who have lost their UniqWarrior, honoring the transition from this life to the next. These capes become symbols not only of strength in the fight but also of light in the afterlife, a reminder that their warrior still shines beyond this world.
This is the new norm for me. Getting to this place was not easy, and it is still challenging. Impact and grief are growing together in me. I am now navigating heartbreak, uncertainty, and moments where it feels like too much. Yet through it all, I choose to show up because every family we serve and every child we honor keeps me connected to purpose.
Some of the biggest lessons I have learned are that healing and creativity can go hand in hand, that purpose can be born from pain, and that even the smallest acts, like a cape on a bear, can carry enormous meaning. I have learned to trust the process, to honor my story, and to let Jahmya’s light continue shining through every life we touch.
What I want the world to know about me and Uniqly Made is that this is heart work. Every cape, every connection, every family we serve is personal. Our goal is to remind every child and parent navigating a hard journey that they are not alone. They are unique. They are worthy. They are powerful.
This is more than a foundation. It is a movement of love, built one stitch, one story, one UniqWarrior at a time, and now carried forward by the light of one very special angel.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to visit for a week, I would want them to experience the heart of the community that helped shape me and the spirit behind Uniqly Made Foundation. It wouldn’t just be a tour of places. It would be a journey through purpose, passion, and a whole lot of love.
Day 1: Welcome and Soulful Start
We would kick off the week with brunch at a local Black-owned café that is all about community and comfort. Somewhere cozy with soul food and warm smiles. Think shrimp and grits, fresh-pressed juice, and conversation that fills your heart. Later, we would take a walk through a nearby park where I often reflect and pray. This is the same space where I first dreamed up Uniqly Made. That evening, we would enjoy a quiet dinner at my favorite spot that serves family-style meals, because nothing says welcome like breaking bread together.
Day 2: Purpose in Action
This day would be all about visiting the space where Uniqly Made Foundation operates. I would show them where the capes are created, introduce them to some of the families we have served if possible, and let them see the impact up close. We would share stories, laughter, and maybe even tears. In the evening, we would attend a local community event or open mic night to celebrate creativity and storytelling. A perfect way to highlight the strength and voice of our families.
Day 3: Art, Culture, and Healing
We would visit a children’s hospital or wellness center where Uniqly Made has partnered in the past or hopes to in the future. Then head to a local art museum or cultural center. Not just to admire art, but to feel it. I believe art and healing go hand in hand, and I would love to show them how that same spirit lives in the capes we create. Dinner would be at a restaurant with live jazz or acoustic music, where we would toast to resilience and creativity.
Day 4: A Day for the Kids
This would be a family-centered day. We would volunteer together at a children’s event or organize a small cape drop-off for a family in need. Then spend the afternoon at a fun spot like a children’s museum, indoor playground, or zoo. Joy and play are essential parts of what we uplift at Uniqly Made. We would end the day with ice cream and a sunset moment to reflect.
Day 5: Self-Care and Reflection
We would start the day with a gentle yoga class, massage, or a quiet walk by the water to slow things down. Grief and purpose both live in me, and I have learned to make space for stillness too. That afternoon, we would grab coffee at a woman-owned business and talk life, dreams, and what is next. Maybe even brainstorm ideas for future Uniqly Made projects, because with the right people around, inspiration flows.
Day 6: Celebration and Connection
We would host a small gathering with friends, families, and local supporters of the foundation. Maybe a backyard barbecue or an intimate dinner party with candles, laughter, and stories. I would use this time to honor the legacy of my daughter Jahmya and share how her light continues to shine through Uniqly Made. It would be more than a meal. It would be a celebration of love, life, and legacy.
Day 7: Sunday Reset
We would attend a church service together to close the week in gratitude and faith. Then brunch and a final walk through one of my favorite peaceful spots, just to breathe and reflect on everything we experienced together. My hope would be that they leave not only entertained but inspired and deeply moved by what is possible when grief, love, and purpose come together.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, I give all glory and honor to God, who is the head of my life and the foundation of everything I do. My strength, vision, and purpose come from my faith. Through every high and every heartbreak, especially the loss of my UniqWarrior Jahmya, it is God who carries me, heals me, and reminds me that I have purpose even in the pain. My relationship with my Lord and Savior shapes who I am, how I lead, and why I serve. I also want to shout out my children, who inspire me every single day. Their resilience, love, and unique light give me strength and remind me of what truly matters.
And of course, I recognize Uniqly Made Foundation. Uniqly Made began in 2019 in honor of my beautiful daughter Jahmya, who was medically complex and is now watching over us with her angel wings in heaven. Her life changed mine in every way. She taught me strength, courage, and how to love beyond limits. Every smile she gave and every battle she faced inspired something deep in me, a calling to do more, to help others walking a similar path.
As I navigated life as a medical mom, I often felt isolated, overwhelmed, and unseen. I realized the support I needed did not exist in the way I needed it, so I created it. Uniqly Made was born from that place. It is more than a foundation. It is a safe haven. A voice. A light. A community for families who carry heavy things with grace, grit, and quiet bravery.
Jahmya’s legacy lives on in every life we touch. Her story is woven into every act of love, support, and hope that Uniqly Made offers.
