We had the good fortune of connecting with Sean Edwards and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sean, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Consistency and reflection. I’ve made it a habit to write something every day—even if it’s just a sentence or a stray thought. Over time, those little moments stack up and shape something powerful. I also check in with myself often. I journal, I meditate, I ask hard questions. That kind of self-awareness helps me stay aligned with my purpose. These practices have allowed me to truly create an authentic artist persona for Wes Lee The Wordsmith. Another big one is showing up. Whether five people or five hundred people are in the room, I give my all. That habit of honoring the moment has opened more doors than I can count. Lastly, operating from a place of teamwork and service. I challenge myself to put the right people in the right positions to drive the mission forward efficiently, and the mission is starts with this question: “What offering are we bringing to the people?”

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is rooted in storytelling. Whether I’m performing, writing, or producing, I want people to feel seen and understood. I focus on message over hype and create with intention. I’m also a firm believer in working a 9-5 so you can fund your dreams. My current career is in Automation & Facility Engineering and it has allowed me to pursue my dreams relentlessly while allowing my personal life to continue to flourish.

Through Bonzeye Productions, I’ve built a platform that uplifts artists and centers healing and growth. The path hasn’t been easy, but staying grounded in purpose and building real community has carried me through.

If there’s one thing I want people to know, it’s that my work comes from a real place. It’s not perfect, but it’s honest… and that gives it power. That’s what makes it organic.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of my closest friends have already visited, and every time they do, I try to give them a real taste of what makes my now home special.. not just the views, but the culture, the people, and the art. Things that are true to me.

We usually kick things off with breakfast at Colada Cuban Café. The coffee hits, the food is solid, and it sets the tone for the day. It’s one of my favorite lowkey spots to grab a bite. Additionally, I always love the art and vibe down in Wynwood. I also love just being in my home studio, my best friends are a part of Bonzeye Productions so it’s mandatory that we lock into the studio.

At night, I always make sure we hit a live show or open mic. Savage Labs in Miami is one of those spots that’s become a go-to. It’s intimate, creative, and always full of dope artists doing their thing. Whether I’m performing or we’re just there to soak it in, the vibe is always right. Of course, the beach is always sprinkled in there.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
