Meet Kobe Desir | K40 the Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kobe Desir and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kobe, why did you pursue a creative career?
I have always had a passion for music. Music is embedded in the core of my soul. The problem was is that not everyone saw the same passion with-in me. As a young child my parents had me play soccer, and baseball. I did not have the felling to play or the passion for either sport. My mom use to sing to me right before I would go into surgery (for ear issues). Since then every time I feel down or some type of way music is what brought me comfort. In High School because of my size I was told that I had to play football. I was miserable, I found myself chasing everyone else’s dreams except mines. My mom and dad started me out with piano lessons at the age of five. I then went and got guitar lessons. Music is me and I am music. I write, sing, produce, and compose my own music.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I don’t go out much, but the places I’ve been like Grails Sport Bar in Wynwood is definitely a place that I would take my best friend. At Grails the most interesting thing is that they serve some of their drinks in like a Jordan sneakers what makes it one of a kind. Then we would go take a walk through Wynnwood street to see the art work on the walls that was made by the community. After I would have to take them to get two of Miami classics. The first being at Pack Supermarket & Cafeteria 0n second ave. This is one of the best place to get fried chicken. The next being Steve’s pizza on Biscayne blvd one of my favorite pizza spot. For a night out we would go bar hopping at Las Olas, that street is fall off great people with great vibes. In this order I know this will be the topic of our conversation for a while.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank my family and friends for supporting me on this crazy journey to success. I want to most importantly thank my mom and dad for being there physically, and finically. Anything that I needed; to support my music career they are always there with support. I want to thank my siblings for all them days and nights they had to stay up with me on my business trips, rehearsal, open mic nights, and performance. My cousin Lito for supporting me no matter what and my female best friend Victoria for pulling up with some vocals whenever I need her. There are so many more people that listens and pushes me to be better than I was yesterday. Thanks to my fans the ones that stream my music. I also want to thank Plain White T’s because if they hadn’t made “Hey There Delilah” I would have never fell in love with music like I do everyday now. Big thanks to our all mighty farther Jesus Christ. It is amazing and a blessing how I connected with music despite my 40% hearing loss that has been corrected with surgery.
