Meet Kedna Amey, MSN

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kedna Amey, MSN and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kedna, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Freedom and Family. Those were the words that became the compass for the pivot that I made when I decided to leave healthcare full time to open my portrait photography business. I was a part of the “Great Resignation” and didn’t even realize that I was a member of a movement that would change the trajectory of millions. Surviving the global pandemic made me realize how precious life truly is and you either carpe diem or you will find yourself lost in “grind culture”. I knew I wanted more for myself and my family. So I took leap of faith and started on an epic journey down the path of entrepreneurship.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am an award winning Luxury portrait photographer who specializes in capturing a person’s true essence through my lens.
My Passion for photography stems from my love and respect for how dynamic and beautiful people truly are. Everyone brings so much to the table based on their life experience and it is my goal to capture and help visually narrate the chapter in their story that they choose to celebrate.
In my 12 years of experience, I have photographed multitudes of expecting mothers , business owners and inspiring men and women celebrating a variety of momentous milestones. Telling a part of their legacy through my vantage point. It has been an honor truly and making authentic human connection has been one of my driving forces.
The art is the heart. Running a success and profitable business, at times, has been the most challenging. Especially while trying to balance motherhood and other imperative relationships. I am a nurse by trade, so I wasn’t taught how to run a business. Because of this, I diligently sought after the education I needed in order for my business to succeed. I joined photography business groups and even completed a 12 week business accelerator hosted by Goldman Sachs. Everything I do requires a spirit of excellence, because the impact it will make is far greater than my gifts or talents alone.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to dedicate my shoutout to my amazing family and close friend circle. They listened to me cry and wiped my tears away. they kept me afloat and prayed for me when I wanted to quit. I am forever grateful. You are my Big Why. Thank you and I love you forever.
