We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Lindo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
I don’t think true balance exists right now. I think it’s always changing depending on what’s most important to me at any given time, and accepting that something will always get left behind or not given as much attention.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I would say I’m involved in a few different small businesses. I create art and occasionally sell pieces and take on commissions, I roast coffee (quiet coffee roasters), and I’m also a member of blk brw-a coffee collective offering educational classes and consulting. We’re currently operating the coffee program at four, a cafe/restaurant in North Miami. Prior to four, I was doing coffee pop-ups on my own for a couple years.

I’m most excited to go to Guatemala in December to attend my first art residency. I’m ready for the four chapter to close. It was supposed to be a 4 month pop-up that is pushing 1 year. I loved it and learned so much, but there’s something special about pop-ups that doesn’t stick when things become more permanent. When I started quiet coffee roasters, people would always tell me I should open my own shop, and I knew that’s not what I want to do full-time. While I love creating an experience and making good coffee for other people, I love being a consumer even more.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If there was a Lazy Brew pop-up happening, I would take them there for coffee and whatever fun drink they have on the menu. Maybe take them to Haulover Beach and have dinner at Awash. Keep it pretty chill.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
blk brw! They showed up to my coffee pop-ups and we believed in each other from the moment we connected.
