Meet Rose E. | Insurance Agency Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rose E. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rose, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
That’s an excellent question, and it’s a topic that’s very close to my heart. My thought process was heavily influenced by the uncertainty of the pandemic and knowing in my heart, if I was going to actually do this, I wanted a recession proof business. So why not insurance? If you own a car, you need insurance by law unless you can afford to self-insure. If you own a home and still paying a mortgage, insurance is a requirement by your lender.
I became a part of corporate America during my last semester of undergrad, working as an intern for a billion dollar corporation. After earning my Bachelors degree in Management and Marketing, I instantly started chasing after that “Corporate American” dream but eventually grew tired of pouring into a company more than I was pouring into myself. I did however was passionate about building meaningful relationships and helping people in general. As the world began to shut down, I started to feel a great deal of anxiety about my job security. I was concerned about the possibility of either being furloughed or even laid off. It was a time when so many people were losing their jobs, and I knew I couldn’t just stand by and hope for the best.
That fear, combined with a deep-seated belief in my own abilities coupled with my background in insurance and education, became my primary motivation. Instead of waiting to see what would happen to my role, I decided to take a proactive approach and create my own opportunity.
So, I leveraged my network, secured the necessary licenses, tapped into my savings and built my agency (MD Financial Solutions) from the ground up. It was a challenging and daunting process, but every hurdle I faced reinforced my decision. Starting my own business during that period wasn’t just about financial security; it was about transforming my fear into a purpose and a constant reminder of the God I serve. Faith, all you need is faith as small as a mustard seed and He Will take care of the rest.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
MD Financial Solutions is an independent insurance agency, we specialize in personal auto, home, and commercial insurance. We are partnered with some of the nation’s leading insurance carriers, allowing us to shop for you and save you time. We are currently licensed in Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Massachusetts, South Carolina, and Texas. Our quotes are free, with no obligations, and we will educate you on all coverage options to tailor a policy specifically for your needs.
Owning a business comes with unique challenges that often go unseen. I learn something new every day about being a business owner and have personally had to step outside my comfort zone to grow MD Financial Solutions to where it is today. Building a profitable business requires a strong team, consistent support, and a sense of community. For instance, my assistant has been one of the best business investments I’ve made.
As a young Haitian woman in a male-dominated industry, I anticipated challenges. However, my faith has been a constant source of strength. I believe that my path to prosperity is guided by a higher purpose, as stated in Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and future.”
My resilience in overcoming challenges comes from reading the Word, attending church weekly, serving in my community, and surrounding myself with faith-filled friends. Whenever I feel weary, my circle reminds me of the strength found in our faith.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
While I don’t venture out much outside of work or travel, and consider myself a homebody, I’d create a fun itinerary for my best friend based on my saved TikTok videos! We’d absolutely eat at Tap 42, Just Spoons, Planta Queen, and Tom Jenkins. Shopping would include Sawgrass Mall, Aventura Mall, and the Miami District, for sure. Even though I’m not a golfer, I enjoy pretending to be at Topgolf in Pompano, and we’d also check out karaoke and bowling in Hallandale.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, God! Without God, I would have given up a long time ago. God has never failed me and has been a constant throughout this journey. He has literally sent strangers from all across the country to support me, little old me, a huge percentage of these people I have never personally met a day in life. I praise God for my nieces and nephew as they were apart of the process. I am so grateful for my mentors and everyone that spoke life into me when MD Financial Solutions was just a thought. To all my clients, referral partners, and sisters in business – thank you for always thinking of me and referring business my way.
