Meet Clío Morarte | Artist & Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Clío Morarte and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Clío, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Contemporary Art is certainly not for the easily dishearten, so therefore risk is inseparable from creativity. It is also trusting your vision enough to move forward no matter what. Whether I am exhibiting in Spain, Paris, or Cape Town what works for me is the enthusiastic response of the public. I choose to share my work because I believe in the energy of uplifting beauty, the one that celebrates life. I love through bold luminous colours to draw people in and hope that the emotional storytelling behind each brushstroke will make my work unforgettable. Art is a long-distance path that requires evolving and listening to the inner voice. Everything shifts constantly and equilibrium is about priorities. I am obsessive with my work but also equally concerned about being present for those I love. I care for mental health, mine and others, that is why I try to let my values guide me.
My life has been shaped by leaps of faith, living in different countries, raising a family while building a professional career, or even now being part of a recently launched online project, Morarte Shop, which follows and inspires on my artistic creations and was born from the desire of transmitting the energy of my paintings into everyday essential accessories. I am thrilled to expand and allow my art to become part of the world in a more accessible and intimate way. It is a venture totally independent from my Studio scenario. Because taking chances is a process essential to our personal and professional growth.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think that my success lies in authenticity. My paintings emerge from lived experiences and I guess collectors and viewers connect with that honesty. I’m not trying to follow trends but to build a visual language rooted in color, symbolism, and joyful emotional landscapes. I have shaped a body of work that feels both personal and universal. As an artist I always intent to explore resilience and joy as restorative forces.. I approach my canvases as if they are windows from where to convey and share a vibrant sense of beauty. I like to create uplifting paintings that may resonate in people’s hearts.
I am also proud to share my work in public spaces, they are wonderful platforms from where to reach out. It is a huge honor to illuminate spaces that are part of our common grounds. I have some pieces placed in Private Clinics, Public Hospitals, Beauty Centres, and have taken commissions from hotels such as the Ritz-Carlton. In that regard I have a very moving anecdote about the social impact of art. Recently, a woman came to see me, she wanted to get hold of me because her father, not long ago, was taken to hospital. She found herself at dawn, devastated, sitting at the main entrance, waiting for news. All of a sudden she looked up and she saw herself reflected in the recomforting trusting smile of a face represented in one of my paintings… she stopped crying and felt that things were going to be fine. I am so thankful that she took the time to seek me out and share her experience. It gave me an incredible sense of fulfilment and purpose. It is a privilegie to be able, through my paintings, to give something back to the world.
On this matter Miami’s vibrant, diverse, and forward-thinking art scene aligns deeply with my creative vision, and I would welcome the opportunity to connect with spaces that value emotional depth, color-driven storytelling, and contemporary painting with a strong personal voice.
Morarte shop on the other hand is a commercial extension of my art that promotes colourful wellbeing and positiveness. The products are inspired on my work and they are designed to add a “Viva la Vida” touch to the community.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am currently based in Spain, on the island of Tenerife, and my suggestions to make you fall in love with this beautiful place will be as follows:
DAY 1 Let´s start in La Laguna, a UNESCO World Site Heritage. We could wander through its colorful historic streets and grab some tapas in a little local bar. Then drive into the green, misty mountains of Anaga until you reach Taganana, a tiny cliffside village. Have dinner with fresh fish and papas arrugadas, right by the ocean.
DAY 2 Spend the morning in the island´s capital, Santa Cruz, where Admiral Horatio Nelson lost his right arm in July 1797 during the failed assault on this Spanish port. A nice stroll through Plaza de España and the old part of town, followed by a visit to the TEA a contemporary art centre, that is always exhibiting international art. A Walk through the Palmetum, a unique palm garden and off to enjoy the oldest park in town, Garcia Sanabria. Then head to Las Teresitas for a lazy beach afternoon and a sundowner by the sea.
DAY 3 My proposal will include, a drive up to Teide National Park, and enjoy the out of this world landscape. The volcano Teide is the highest point in Spain and the third in the world, and a UNESCO Site Heritage. On our way down, we could pass by La Orotava, whith a historic center which is in the Inventory of the European Cultural Heritage Protection. Its gastronomy is well establish and its wines have been honoured with the “Denomination of the Origin of the Orotava valley.”
DAY 4 My recommendation will be a morning in Puerto de la Cruz to visit the Botanical Garden and the Lago Martiánez. And after lunch, perhaps explore the natural pools of the north: La Laja, El Caletón, or Charco del Viento. They’re wild, blue, and unforgettable.
DAY 5 Off to a morning hike at Barranco del Infierno. Followed by lunch at Otelo, overlooking the cliffs. Then pick a southern beach, El Duque, Camisón, or the hidden Diego Hernández.
To finally end the day with sunset cocktails in La Caleta.
DAY 6 A long drive to Masca, one of the most dramatic places on the island, mountains, cliffs, and views that feel prehistoric. Then head to Garachico, a beautiful historic coastal town. Swim at El Caletón, relax, and end up having a delicious dinner facing the sea.
DAY 7 To finish our trip I will head towards Candelaria, for a walk along the waterfront and the basilica.Maybe we could spend the afternoon on a beach nearby — El Médano or Abades.
And for your farewell meal, I´ll take you to a guachinche: homemade wine, local food, no fuss. Pure Tenerife.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am fully aware that the love and support of my husband and kids were the reasons why I took the chance at opening my own Studio and they greatly contributed to my success.
My paintings emerge from lived experiences and I guess collectors and viewers connect with that authenticity. My visual approach is rooted in color, symbolism, and joyful emotional compositions.
None of that would have been possible without the encouragement of my family. Being a mom has shaped my art and my life in very enriching ways that are deeply interconnected. I also would like to give credit to the wonderful teachers and collages that I met through my academic years in Madrid, London and L.A., they helped me to develop a pretty versatile profile which facilitated my professional involvement in international fashion, textiles, public and private interiors projects, furniture design… All that work experience provided me with a very singular and recognizable sense of aesthetic, which helped to achieve a worldwide clientele.
