We had the good fortune of connecting with Hayley Schapiro, LCSW and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hayley, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started my business after repeatedly seeing a disconnect between how much care and thought clinicians bring to their work and how impersonal the process of finding therapy often feels for clients. As a practicing clinician, I understood how critical fit, timing, and trust are, yet many existing systems rely on algorithms, directories, or self-selection that place too much burden on people who are already overwhelmed.

Curated Therapy Collective grew from a desire to build something more personalized, a model where real clinicians thoughtfully guide the matching process and where both clients and therapists feel supported from the outset. The goal was never rapid growth for its own sake, but to create a sustainable, relationship-driven approach to mental health care that I would genuinely trust for my own clients and colleagues.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Curated Therapy Collective was built from a gap I kept seeing in mental health care. As a practicing clinician, I watched clients struggle not because they didn’t want support, but because the process of finding the right therapist felt overwhelming, impersonal, and discouraging. Fit matters deeply in therapy, yet so many systems rely on algorithms, directories, or self-selection that place too much burden on people who are already vulnerable.

CTC is different because it’s clinician-led and intentionally human. We take the time to understand each client’s needs and thoughtfully connect them with a provider who truly fits, while also supporting clinicians through a referral and professional ecosystem rooted in integrity and sustainability. This work is deeply personal to me, and my goal has always been to build a model of care that feels thoughtful, relational, and genuinely trustworthy.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting for a week, I’d focus on balance — beach time, great food, a little culture, and plenty of room to truly enjoy each other’s company. We’d start mornings with coffee and long walks along the Palm Beach Lake Trail, spend afternoons shopping and exploring, stop by the Norton Museum, spend Saturday at the GreenMarket, and keep evenings social with friends, laughter, and great meals.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people woven into this story, but at the core, I’d dedicate this shoutout to the clinicians and mentors who modeled what ethical, thoughtful care actually looks like, especially those who emphasized slowing down, honoring nuance, and leading with integrity. I’m also deeply grateful to the colleagues and peers who believed in the vision of Curated Therapy Collective early on, offered honest feedback, and trusted me enough to build alongside them.
On a personal level, my family deserves real credit, for their patience, encouragement, and willingness to support my path. And finally, I’d shout out the clients and families who trusted me with their stories over the years; they’ve been the most powerful teachers, shaping not only how I practice, but why this work matters.
