We had the good fortune of connecting with Ricardo Trillos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ricardo, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I strongly believe taking risk is part of life. Almost mandatory in order to move forward and never settle or fall in a confort zone. I agree with the fact that if there is no risk there is no reward. At the end we only regret about the risk we didn’t take.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are the first bean to bar chocolate makers in the city. Basically we brought to Miami the craftmanship of making real chocolate from scratch. We’ve had many challenges from weather to consumer education but I believe where there is a problem you can also find opportunities and rather to focus on that. If I have to describe our journey in a word I will say Persistance inmediately. We like to be known as local business with the goal of teaching Miami consumers the importance of supporting local businesses while enjoying a fine piece of chocolate made from cacao beans sourced directly from farms where we are involved in many projects improving farmers lives.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them for breakfast at Threefold Cafe in Coral Gables. Lunch at Arbetters Hot Dogs. Coffee break at Panther Coffee and dinner at Chopstick House (thai food) in Cutler Bay area. Last but not least a few beers at Beat Culture Brewery by the airport in Doral.

Tell us about a book you’ve read and why you like it / what impact it had on you.
I tried to read as much as I can and there are three books I always recommend. – Rich dad poor dad – Think and grow rich – Three feet from gold. I belong to an amazing networking organization – The Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce that helps me grow my business and be involved in our community. Also I am part of Gentlemens Journal which is a business/mastermind group where we work together as true brothers growing as individuals, family members and business owners.
