We had the good fortune of connecting with FLY GUY and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi FLY, how do you think about risk?
I govern my life according to a quote from Robert Greene (author of The 48 Laws of Power, Art of Seduction, The 50th Law). He wrote… “Life rewards the risk takers.” To paraphrase, when you feel the most apprehensive or fearful about making a decision or taking that leap of faith; stepping into unfamiliar territory…that is the exact moment when you should make the move. By doing that, he believes (as I do), that you will find your greatest reward. I’ve always been the type of person to take the road less traveled. To me, it’s about it being “greater” later; never about instant gratification or a quick buck. I always want to be known for carving out my own path to success.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I lead with love and passion in everything I do creatively. I never conformed to the idea “Jack of All Trades, Master of None.” It’s my belief that God has blessed us all with the ability to do multiple things at a high level, once we discover exactly what those things are and then tap into them. In terms of the music I make, the honesty and truth in my subject matter is a direct reflection of my life experiences That resonates with people the most. When I’m behind the DJ booth, I exude a passion and energy that has helped to differentiate me from others in the nightlife/entertainment world. I’m someone who has always taken every opportunity, whether large or small, and maximized it to its fullest. Applying that to all areas of my profession hasn’t been easy but it’s been worth it. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned along the way is to treat everyone with the same level of respect; regardless of their position or status in the industry. Treat the bathroom attendant at the club with the same respect you treat the General Manager. That’s also something that has aided in setting me a part from others. My reputation, my name, and my brand is well-respected in this business, in addition to my talent. That means the world to me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Easy list: Eat – House of Wings / House of Mac Drinks – Wood Tavern Hang out – The Urban Visit – Little Haiti Cultural Arts Center See a pattern? We are living in a difficult time right now, so if I have friends who want to come visit Miami currently, the best things to see and do are outdoor venues and eateries , so that we can do our best to be COVID-19 safe.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe much of my success to quite a few people I am fortunate to have in my corner who want to see me succeed. So here goes… My Family Headliner Market Group Ceiffawn Wetherspoon Commissioner Keon Hardemon, Yvette Harris.
