Meet Ashley Conyers: Licensed Social Worker & NJ Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Conyers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Without taking risks in life, we are prone to become stagnant and less likely to challenge ourselves. Going into 2021, I am making myself a promise to try new things and put myself in positions to grow both personally and professionally. It is not easy to leave your comfort zone by any means, but it is something that is needed in order to make your dreams come true. At this point in my life, I am getting to know my DIS-COMFORT ZONE while learning more of myself and what I am capable of. As an inspiring entrepreneur / creative, launching Time Capsule Photography (TCP) is definitely one risk that I am more than happy to be taking. I can’t wait to see where it leads me. 

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I take pride in capturing the most authentic photos of others. It creates the perfect image in my mind of who that person actually is. Everyone has layers and it is my goal to uncover them one portrait at a time, as a photographer. Similarly, that has been my experience as a Licensed Social Worker (LSW). Prior to pursuing photography, I found myself in positions that felt fulfilling but were quick to burn me out emotionally. I felt that outside of social work, my spark of creativity was completely nonexistent and it was my mission to revive that so my outlet was and is Time Capsule Photography (TCP). Personally, I always took pictures and had an interest, but I never thought I would take the professional route and actually publish my work and charge clients. This venture is one of my leaps of faith and it really takes a lot of belief in myself and the art I produce. Having confidence is key in anything that you do! Sometimes it isn’t the easiest but it is always worth it. Such as anyone else, I continue to be a work in progress and building my confidence within myself and my art is what I strive to do each day. My ultimate goal is to not only build the confidence within myself, but within the people that I have the opportunity to work with.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shout out to those who continue to support me and my journey. I am very appreciative of the clients I worked with thus far and looking forward to the ones I will come in contact within the future, my business mentors, and my beautiful family and friends, They all keep me inspired and motivated to take the necessary leaps of faith when it comes to pursuing my dreams. We all could use people in our circle that keep us level-headed and focused on the goal(s).
