We had the good fortune of connecting with Indira Cristin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Indira, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?

The most important factor behind my success was my persistency. I look at my failures as obstacles to overcome. It’s very difficult to accept when we fail but I have the ability to quickly recognize my mistakes and this has helped me in growing my business. It has allowed me to move forward faster, look for new solutions or alternatives in order to get new results. “Every failure is a step closer to my goals. I’ve made several mistakes along the way but reaching my dreams is so important that I’ll never give up”.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

I’m a very detailed person, so it’s important to me to give to my customers something different and specifically designed for them. I want to make them feel special and unique. I specialize in custom cakes and I make my customers fill out a questionary to understand what they are looking for. My goal is to exceed their expectations with my creations and make their celebration extra special. In many occasions I have got new new and challenging orders but my confidence and my love to learn have gotten me to where I’m today. It wasn’t easy! A few times I’ve had to stay late until 3 am finishing a difficult order because it didn’t came out just right so I had to do it again. But as I mention before, my persistancy to succeed was stronger than my tiredness and the goal was achieved. I feel thankful for all those experiences because not only do they help me in developing my decorator skills but also reinforce my passion for my career.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

I always invite my friends to my bakery. I love to show them my work and get them involved with a baking or decorating class. This make them feel welcome and also they can learn something new. I would take them to different restaurants depending on what they like or the diet they follow. Love life cafe (Vegan), Lung Yai (Thai ), Planta (Vegan), Fratelli Milano (Authentic Italian), The last carrot (healthy – Vegan), Dhar Bar (Indian), Meraki (Greek), Carrot express (healthy- vegan) salty donuts, le chic. I love the beach so I would definitely reserve a day or 2 to go and relax. I love nature and outdoor activities so kayak, paddle board, running will be on the list. I would invite them to my Crossfit gym to take one class. I’ve been doing Crossfit for 5 years already and I try to encourage ppl to work out.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I’d like to thank to my Bettersweet team. They are the motor of my company. It wouldn’t have been possible to grow my company without them. In 2015 when I started, I was the only employee. Then I hired an assistant. After few months my mom moved to the USA and joined the team and little by little others came to help me in this journey. Today my team has 7 committed and hard working ppl that I couldn’t be more proud of. The Shoutout goes to my graphic designer Yvonne from “Three heads marketing”, I’ve been working with her since day 1 and her talented ideas have projected my company image exactly as I wanted. Thank you also to all my friends and family that have supported me all this time.
