Meet Katerina Wagner: Editor-in-Chief of Miami Art Scene™ & Managing Director of KPW Global Media Group

We had the good fortune of connecting with Katerina Wagner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Katerina, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Pioneering and seizing the digital frontier long before businesses were
embracing all the new technologies. My company specializes in promoting
and developing visual artists, art businesses and visual arts
organizations. We started in 2009 as an art blog and we began to grow
very quickly. I always used technology to achieve the best results, and
now more than ever since the pandemic has shifted everything, we have
been able to stand strong thank God, as virtually everything has gone
digital.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Miami Art Scene™ is Miami’s #1 art magazine, an influential visual arts
platform covering local, national and international art news and
information. We’re able to cast a wide net, generating exposure and
visibility through reaching a vast audience spanning the entire creative
landscape — including collectors, dealers, artists, galleries, museum
directors, curators, designers, art aficionados, connoisseurs, art-goers
and more. Reporting on the local art scene, U.S. markets, and the global
art community, featuring personalities, artwork, trends, exhibits, and
events in a concise, well-crafted style. I launched the platform in 2009
and began heavily promoting visual artists, galleries, museums and
events with an emphasis on local artists and the overall art scene that
had evolved during the transformation in Wynwood and with Art Basel
Miami Beach coming here in 2002. Since then, we’ve been evolving in real
time with the rapid growth and change around us, continuing to keep our
clients at the forefront of business, enterprise, communication and
culture within a global, digital framework. I’m fortunate to have an
amazing support system of contacts, friends, colleagues, and we are all
able to work stronger together and combine resources, contacts and
opportunities to strengthen the outcome(s) for all involved, it takes a
village. Also working in the communications industry for 25+ years has
given me the ability to blend the older, traditional methodologies and
strategies with the newer, more advanced vehicles of reaching audiences;
working in this double capacity also allows for stronger, sustainable
outcomes.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorites meeting places in Wynwood are Zak the Baker or Panther Coffee, both have great atmosphere, delicious food and coffee, with a really cool vibe. But we all know that Miami is the magic city by the bay, making it possible to discover many gems by chance in a happy or beneficial way with incredible people left and right.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shout out to all the Miami artists, the galleries,
museums, art professionals and creative businesses in South Florida,
they are the real magic here, the fairy dust that makes it all happen,
which allows for an industry to flourish where we can all thrive, so
everyone needs to be revered and praised. It’s a blessing that I get to
work with and develop long-lasting relationships with creative and
talented people in South Florida, across the United States and all over
the world while doing something I love and am passionate about.
