We had the good fortune of connecting with Sophia Demirtas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sophia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Start even if you are afraid, and nothing is fully ready. I have found that, starting with minimum financial risk, and learning as you go is better than being fully prepared.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
“I always say that my employees, do not work for me, they work with me!” I do not micro manage, I have learned that is is best practice to allow everyone to owe their on set of responsibilities. I am the always laughing, understanding, leave room for mistakes, this is my leadership style. I do not like a working environment that is up tight, I want an even exchange, where everyone feels respected and act, the ways that will keep them employed. By that I mean, caring for what is being made, to know that, if a customer is not happy, they will not return or refer their love ones, and ultimately, the brand suffers… and of course everyone will be affected. with my team, it is clear that, the brand is not my brand, it is ours!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live near the Mediterranean and Aegean cost line. it all depends on the season. However, I tent to have more friends visit during the summer. So lots of boat trips, seafoods, salads, wine, cheese, caviar, and Champaign. in addition to all the fresh local foods our area have to offer. There are plenty great restaurants here, please look in the areas of Gocek, and Bordrum, in Turkey.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Oh gosh, honestly so many people. I am bless with a few very great supportive friends. But the last couple of years have been so intense, and work have kept me away from my children. They have been such pros, and even encouraging… Telling me while I was away, that they believed in me, and they knew I could make all the wrong things right, with productions challenges last summer. so yeah… my beautiful boys. I dedicate this shout out to Arda and Omer Demirtas!
