We had the good fortune of connecting with Stefany Allongo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stefany, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started as a wedding planner 10 years ago during the great recession out of a need to have a job. No one was hiring, so I decided to work on my own. After a few years, I noticed that there wasn’t a wedding resource dedicated to our market. It was a point of frustration, as my colleagues and I all yearned for a way to connect with local couples. We knew couples were looking to support local businesses but didn’t have a way to find us.
So in 2017, I finally decided to take the plunge and create what our market needed with Married in Palm Beach. It’s been such a rewarding decision! I get to help couples looking to get married locally while also supporting our community of wedding vendors with a platform that connects them with those couples.
What should our readers know about your business?
Married in Palm Beach is the only online resource solely dedicated to weddings in the Palm Beaches. We offer comprehensive vendor listings and articles to help couples plan their weddings. We are the top online wedding resource for local and destination couples looking to get married in Palm Beach County. It took a lot of time, effort, research, and patience to get to this point and we want to keep growing! From expanding our MIPB Family of Wedding Vendors to growing our library of content to increasing our brand recognition, it all helps in building Married in Palm Beach.
As a small business, it’s sometimes hard competing with big guys. I constantly have to remind myself to stick with our strategy for growth and not compare myself to others. We want to keep our focus on supporting our local community because we are locals! I was born and raised in the West Palm Beach area, got married here, and love showcasing what this area has to offer.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh boy!! That’s a tough one as there is so much to do! Brunch at John G’s for sure. Dinner and drinks at Key Lime House. Visit Loggerhead Marinelife Center to see the adorable turtles. Climb to the top of the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse. Hit up the Palm Beach Ale Trail for some local craft beer. Take a stroll on the Lake Trail in Palm Beach for the best skyline view. Grab some coffee at Subculture and head over to the West Palm Beach Green Market. Check out a polo match or the Winter Equestrian Festival. And, of course, have a beach day or two with some delicious Publix subs. I know I left a bunch of great places out, but there really is a lot to do around here.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Huge thanks goes to my husband Tony for encouraging me to follow my gut and create Married in Palm Beach. Also, a big thank you goes to Angela and Greg Quigley of Married in Milwaukee for being the best mentors anyone could ask for. Lastly, I need to thank all the MIPB Family Members for supporting our efforts in creating this resource.
