We had the good fortune of connecting with April Laura and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi April, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I believe it is mindset. You have to believe in yourself, trust in your abilities and sharpen your skills every day. Envisioning where you want to be and feeling that it is true is a great way to infuse great energy into your dreams. There have been a few times in my career that people told me it couldn’t be done, or it was to hard, “there’s too much competition”. If you believe in yourself and do the work, you will get the results!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m a real estate agent in South Florida. I believe what sets me apart is that I love helping people and making connections and building relationships. I’m happy to help whether it’s just a question or connecting people or providing resources for anyone I know. I have a lot of energy and passion for what I do and I’ve been told many times that comes through. I went into real estate after a long career in medical sales and management. I started in the healthcare industry as a RN and I still hold my nursing license active. It was not easy, I jumped in head first and real estate does not provide you with a paycheck until you close a deal. It’s commission only and I had to prepare for that and hit the ground running. It has taught me many lessons including to believe in myself and not worry about the outcome. If you are doing the work everyday, you will see results, as I have. I would like the world to know that I am very passionate and will protect your best interests like no other. I value what I do and my word, so making a good impression and working as hard as I possibly can for my clients is a huge priority to me. I am a mother of four daughters and I want them to learn from me and their grandmother strength, discipline, and to believe in themselves.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love spending time with my friends and family! We would definitely spend a little time near the water having drinks and great food maybe at the Pompano Beach House or Dune Deck café. South Florida has so many great outdoor restaurants and activities! If it was in the summer, we could go paddle boarding or boating off of Peanut Island or Jupiter. Renting bikes and bike riding up and down the beach and A1A is always a beautiful ride. We could find some live music at Old Key Lime House in Lantana or Tin Roof in Delray Beach. We could attend an art festival like the Delray Affair or a local green market especially in the winter months. The possibilities are endless!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Mom has really been the only mentor I have ever had. I have never found another person who works as hard as she does, has more integrity or determination. She instilled in me a “if there is a will, there is a way” belief. She’s always said she believed I could do it, no matter what my next career move was. My thanks go to my Mom for her belief in me, her sacrifice, her support and her guidance. She is not a woman of many words. She has taught me not through words, but through her actions my entire life. She’s never been overbearing, she always let me make mistakes because she is smart enough to know that you have to make mistakes in life in order to grow and learn. I strive continually to be more like her. I am blessed to be her daughter and to have been around greatness my entire life.
