We had the good fortune of connecting with Ethan Dangerwing and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ethan, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I’m inspired by the connections we make with each other. Not on a surface level but those interactions we have where we feel we learned something, good or bad has no standing.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I feel like I’m still at the beginnings of my art journey even though I’ve been shooting for years at this point. It’s always been my mindset to never think that I’ve arrived but I’m always learning along the way. My photography is no different. I’m as self taught as they come. I’ve never took any art classes or photography classes, though I plan to at some point. I’ve let my eye slowly adjust to seeing things in a different way. Since picking up a camera I’ve been looking for any excuse to shoot. When I first started shooting I focused on the big picture. Shooting landscapes and plant life. I quickly come to realize that I had a passion for the connection in portraits. In 2015 me and my soon to be wife quit our jobs where we met and decided to travel the country living out of a van. This was a huge chapter for me being it is when I started taking my work serious. I’ve booked models throughout the country to shoot with. After my 50 state trip I started to set my sights internationally and shot for magazine publications in Iceland and Paris. In 2019 my dilagence paid off and I won Best Photographer in Palm Beach County via The Palm Beach Post. I truly beleive that the camera can see things we can’t. In real life we tend to move too fast to see the intricacies of what makes us individuals. My main goal when photographing is to capture the real person in front of my lens. I see myself as an Artist first and a photographer second.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would first invite them to Arts Garage. This place will offer anything you’re looking for if you’re a person that is into art. From live music to an Art Gallery designed for emerging artists, it’s truly a gem in Delray Beach. For great eats, I’d definitely scoot over to DaDa. I’ve been going to this place for years and there’s a reason why. The food and atmosphere are banging! Need a pick me up then I’ll stop at Subculture for the best cup of coffee around. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I can’t put a finger on one source of inspiration, there are many people in my life who impacts my dedication and drive. That being said the one person that gives me the strongest push in my life and who’d I want to dedicate this Shoutout to is my soon-to-be wife.
