We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Simpson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nicole, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
For years I was the go-to person for organization amongst my family and friends. I noticed how being disorganized (with both time management and physical items) negatively impacted those around me. They’d tell me they felt like they were drowning in their mess until I rescued them. Helping them get organized dramatically improved their quality of life. Realizing how much people needed my skill set and service motivated me to launch Neat With Nic.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Neat With Nic is a professional organization company servicing South Florida, but I am proud to say that we have expanded and are now servicing clients nationwide. When the business first started, we only offered professional organization and decluttering services. Since then we have added more staff and have also expanded our services to include designing, installing, and building custom storage solutions that maximize space. What sets us apart is that we are now a one-stop-shop and our initial consultations are free. We design, install, build, declutter, organize, purchase materials, and return unused materials for our clients. Starting and maintaining a successful business is never easy. One of my biggest challenges, when I started, was learning about social media. I still struggle with it today, but it has gotten easier.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Luckily, they can come anytime because Miami has great tropical weather and sunshine year-round. We would start with Cuban coffee at Versailles, followed by a tour and quick game of dominos in Little Havana. Next, we’d stop by Wynwood and the Design District to see beautiful artwork and take fun pictures. Our day wouldn’t be complete without going to the beach to get a suntan, people watch, and buy some souvenirs. We’d end our fabulous day with dinner and drinks in Brickell. And if somehow I could still be in bed by 8:00pm, then that would be my perfect day, too!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mom deserves all the credit! She immigrated to the United States at a young age, learned English, and established herself. Through her example, my mom taught me how to work hard and follow through with your promises. She is organized and so great with time management that I couldn’t help but always (to this day) be in awe of her. She showed me the ropes before being a “Professional Organizer” was a thing. Thanks to her, I have the skill set and values to run my successful business.
