We had the good fortune of connecting with Angelina Goodman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angelina, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always really loved crystals and I thought to myself, well how can I spread good positive energy to others with these crystals? By wearing them and hanging them around the house! I always knew I didn’t want to work behind a desk for 40 hours a week too. I started right at the beginning of the pandemic and opened up an Etsy shop!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what sets me apart is that each piece is unique because no crystals are the exact same. Not only can you wear my necklaces and bracelets, but I make car charms, wall hangings and Keychains too. The quality of the cord is excellent and waterproof too. I’ve learned that success doesn’t happen overnight, and even if I’m not making 10 sales a day, I’m still incredibly grateful and happy that there are people all over the world with something that I handmade! I have had people reach out and tell me that the crystal was so special to them and that really makes me feel honored. I also love being able to talk with others and create something custom made for them, like I created a baby mobile with a piece of driftwood and the mom absolutely adored it. It’s not easy but I’m learning so much from others and I really enjoy creating unique pieces for people.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well I live in a great spot on the East coast of South Florida that allows me to go lots of cool places! I would take them to get an açaí bowl at 3 Natives and then head to Jupiter beach where the water is crystal clear. West Palm Beach has cute little coffee shops and markets. Going up to central Florida in Orlando is definitely something fun to do as well. I love going to the farmers markets there and seeing other creative vendors. They also have the best vegan spots so I would take them to eat at Market on South (one of my favorite vegan spots) as well as Winter Park Biscuit Co. In my view, being around artists and entrepreneurs are the best things to check out in every area!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, my mom! She taught me how to do the macrame knots and always inspires me and helps me with whatever I need. My boyfriend Bailey has supported me from day one and always encourages me even when I don’t get orders for a few days. There are numerous female entrepreneurs that I follow on Instagram who have inspired me as well to keep creating and have been there supporting me! To name a few: Melina from Violet & Free Candles, Sealah Rain, Moonstruck Healing Oils and Jazmine from Creating a New View.
