We had the good fortune of connecting with April Dawn Agnew and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi April Dawn, what’s your definition for success?
Success for me is showing up, as your best self, accomplishing goals at a “God” pace! It is maturing and developing as well as overcoming whatever obstacles you may face at any given point on your journey! It is emptying yourself of the wisdom you’ve gained by pouring into those who walk the path you’ve paved! Success is believing you are the amazing being God created you to be, even when you fail or falter along the way! Success is going at it again and again, no matter how many times you’ve been knocked down or even after you’ve slowed down or stopped!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I love the life I live! As a teacher, author, life coach, and foreign field missionary, I have a lot going on at the same time. It is so important that I maintain balance so that what I give and do is done in excellence! My students deserve a good education. I strive to build life-long learners and push them to reach their maximum potential! I encourage them to make no excuses, accept no barriers, and overcome all hindrances so they can create the sealant of success for their own lives! As an author, my voice is vital in the earth! I want to present thought-provoking content that develops believers and encourages the down-trodden to live a powerful and complete life! As a newly certified life coach I aim to partner with those looking to see success in areas where they’ve felt unsuccessful! Lastly, as a foreign field missionary, I mentor youth and young adults who have experienced trauma, to help them realize their potential, develop and execute their goals, as well as overcome their current life status! It is not easy using my voice to help others gain theirs. It can become a chore to carry the weight of others issues and obstacles while overcoming my personal struggles! However, I maintain an active prayer life, run a mile daily, and invest in my rest and personal development. I meditate on the Word of God and reassure myself that I am equipped to build others! Some of the biggest lessons I have learned are: 1. Use wisdom: I can’t “save” every student, every client is not for me, and ultimately I am a divinely inspired vessel! 2. Listen twice as much as you speak: students, clients, mentees desire guidance, but sometimes their help is within. If you listen they can forge their own path! 3. Smile! Somebody always needs a smile, and it’s contagious! 4. I serve people! However, it is important to remember I am a person! The love, honor and care I pour into others through my work, is also due me-NEVER NEGLECT ME!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
*I am not from Miami!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many amazing people that have contributed to the woman I am and to the woman I am becoming daily! My triple force though, is my mom, my mentor, and my pastor! The love, wise counsel, and spiritual guidance I receive from them has caused me to be successful in the face of insurmountable obstacles!
