Meet Eri Vincent | Makeup artist, Session Stylist, Beauty Educator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Eri Vincent and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eri, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
“Fake it until you make it”. Although this makes sense in some aspects of life, In the world of Hair and Makeup it doesn’t apply. It is so important to do the work, and research before diving into production hair and makeup. I spent years assisting, learning and researching before I ever got my first lead makeup artist role in the industry. As a makeup artist you have to make sure you know how to work with ALL skin types, all personalities, and are able to work long hours for the sake of your craft. “Faking it'” can only get you so far.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career has been very diverse. I sought out to be a makeup artist because I loved making people feel beautiful. I didn’t have any specific goal within the industry other than to make money doing what I love. I think this fact led me into being a well rounded hair and makeup artist. I have experience in so many different aspects of the industry which allows me to bring a fresh and cultured perspective to my work. I have worked in Reality TV, Fashion, Ecomm, Film, and Bridal. Each of these fields bring me so much joy, there are different seasons for each, so my work schedule is never the same, which keeps me on my toes.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout is to my friend and mentor Stephen Moleski. He was the first makeup artist that I idolized, that was within reach as I lived in, and grew up in a small town. I heard of Stephen because he was on of Kim Kardashians first makeup artists, and I was surprised to learn we were from the same hometown. One night at the beginning of my career, I ran into him at the bar. I instantly fan-girled, and after that night we became friends. He gave me advice on the industry, and I followed his career, and organized some celebrity makeup classes for him to teach in Florida and Atlanta. We still stay in touch and he is currently the lead makeup artist on the series Claws which is shooting in Georgia. I was inspired by his journey, and so amazed to see that you dont have to be in NY or LA to make it “big”.
