We had the good fortune of connecting with Deanna Joseph and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Deanna, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
One of my favorite affirmations is, “I’m releasing self-doubt to make room for growth.” Initially when I found this affirmation, I wrote it down with my companies in mind. Quickly I found myself reciting it whenever I needed motivation, or I felt the need to reassure myself in stressful situations. I love to find quotes and affirmations that are applicable in every area of life, whether it be physical health, mental/emotional health, financial health, or any other area in which we may find the need for balance and a constant equilibrium. Whenever I’m unsure or I find myself becoming overwhelmed, I take a moment to pause. I take a deep breath (making room for growth), and I exhale (release any and all self-doubt). It definitely keeps me grounded, I hope it does the same for you.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
One of the things that I love about the finance industry is the possibilities are endless. You can literally go anywhere.
Before I graduated high school, I wanted to go to college to major in Finance. Despite the fact that I was ironically not the best at math, I always had a profound love for numbers. Addition, subtraction, division, percentages. BASIC math! In reality, unless you’re a physicist or some other form of scientist, basic math is all we need.
My choice of study wasn’t too popular amongst my family, so I decided that if I couldn’t study what I had a passion for, I just wouldn’t go at all. However, if anyone would have told me in 2017, that I would have started not one, but TWO companies in my industry of choice three years after graduating high school? Don’t get me wrong, I would’ve believed them, but I would’ve looked at them a little crazy first.
To this day I pride myself on my dedication to running integral businesses. In this day and age, too many people want the success but they don’t want the struggle that comes along with that desire. They don’t want to exercise the patience necessary in order to see results. They don’t want to believe that the blueprint to true wealth takes time, patience, and investment on their part before seeing a return.
I got to where I am today because I’m a firm believer in all those things. I realize and accept the fact that though the path may not be easy, it’s the one I’ve chosen for myself and I have to stick to it or face the alternatives. That alternative looks like me trading my time for money, punching someone else’s clock, paying their mortgage, and lining their pockets while earning just enough to cover my monthly expenses. I wanted (and still want) more for myself.
I’ve learned not to trust everything you see online. People are not who they “post” to be. Also, comparison really is the thief of joy. Comparing my chapter seven to someone else’s chapter 32 will get me no where. Sometimes, even in motivation there will be discouragement. It’s my job to push past the discouragement and focus on what drives me. And the thing that drives me the most… is my desire for MORE.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m more of a go-with-the-flow type person. I’m the person who loves structure, but is also down for an adventure any time. When it comes to Miami, there’s so much to do. So much to see. If you love a nice, greasy burger with some fries? I’d definitely recommend Cheeseburger Baby. If you’re a person who loves to shop and maybe take a breather to grab a bite and try some hookah? I’d say Lincoln Road Mall would be the place for you. However one of MY personal favorites in Miami is Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. If you’re into botanical gardens and you’re an avid lover of all things historic, this is definitely a place for you. After you’ve walked around and seen everything there is to see in the museum, don’t leave yet! Once you figure out how to make your way outside and to the garden, you’ll find there’s SO much more in store. Quick tip? Definitely pull out the most comfortable pair of walking shoes in your closet. You’ll need them!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are many people who I’ve learned from that I’ve come across via social media during my entrepreneurial journey. One of the main people I’d like to thank is Ashley Massengill. Trust me, look her up. Both her name AND the success behind it speak for themselves. Being skeptical about some of the things and people I come across on social media, I decided to invest in myself and sign up for one of her credit repair academy trainings. One of the best investments I could’ve made. She’s helped me and thousands of others structure their businesses from the ground. Anyone who has had the opportunity to interact with me, whether in person or via social media, can feel my passion for the credit industry. Outside of getting negatives items removed from my clients’ reports, I love to teach. After all, what is progress if you aren’t shown how to maintain it?
