Meet Ivy Hope | Podcast Host

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ivy Hope and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ivy, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
For Drunk Tired & Annoyed, I truly believe that the most important factor behind the success we’ve had so far is consistency. Not one day goes by where we’re not discussing something about the podcast. Whether it be what the next Instagram post should be or if we should add something new to the podcast or take something away from it. We are consistently fine tuning what we have so that we can put out the best possible product and continue to reach and engage with our targeted audience. Additionally, I can’t think of our success without acknowledging how much fun we have with the podcast. The same way it’s a treat for our listeners, it’s truly awesome to be able to get together as a group of close friends and just dish it out! Sometimes projects like this become a chore after a while, but I think I can speak for the four of us when I say seven months later- it is just as exciting as day one.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The premise of our podcast is “the group chat that went live” and that’s exactly what it is! The four of us have a group chat that we talk in nearly every minute of everyday. Needless to say, because of our diverse personalities, the conversations can get more than spicy. We often found ourselves saying “man we need more people in this chat” or “what if someone read this” until one day, we decided to do something about it and came up with Drunk Tired & Annoyed, the podcast! What you hear when you tune into our podcast is truly what you’d see if you were to take our phones and scroll in our group chat.
I won’t say that it was easy. We didn’t come up with the concept for a podcast overnight. We had several zoom meetings and discussions about how we would really make this work. We wanted to be consistent with what we put out and honestly, we just wanted it to be really good. We definitely make sacrifices every week to be able to record on time after all of us come home from busy days at work. Two of the cast members are finishing up various degrees. So it definitely isn’t the easiest thing to do, but do we love it? Definitely.
Some lessons that we’ve learned is that we can’t stop. One of the biggest things about podcasting at this moment is that everyone is doing it. But that doesn’t necessarily mean there’s not room for us too. People tune into our show every week, which really means a lot, it means we’re doing something right and we have to keep on going.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting Miami, I would definitely say the first thing we’re doing is brunch. For our group of friends if you brunch together, you stay together (and if there are no bottomless mimosas- it’s not brunch its just breakfast).
Brunch- Louie Bossi which has such a diverse menu, nice photo ops and BOTTOMLESS.
Definitely have to hit up the water- I mean we’re in Miami duh! I would find a boat charter to Haulover Sandbar where you can just park it and chill on the water or in the water! Great music, get some nice snacks and just have a perfect day.
You can go to the infamous Wynwood and see the walls, also have some cocktails and hit up the design district not too far off. Depending on how early or late it is I’m sure there will be music playing SOMEWHERE. Wynwood is always good for a spontaneous night of fun.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There is no Drunk Tired & Annoyed without all 4 of us. So shout out to Big Bank, Grigs, and BeeShell! We truly all put in the work necessary to make things run smoothly every week. Everyone has their own task that they’re great at and together we make magic.
