We had the good fortune of connecting with Dayne Malcolm and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dayne, what do you attribute your success to?
God is the true source of my success, I’m constantly reminded of His unwavering love towards me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a child, his favorite thing to do was to sing. Little did he know that his beloved childhood hobby would become a life of music ministry and service. Dayne Malcolm, better known as daMalco, is a laid back and jovial person, however, when he takes the stage, he allows God to take full control, transforming the atmosphere and leaving each person feeling renewed and restored.

Before moving to the United States, Dayne was very involved in his community and stood out as a talented singer from a young age. He sang with his high-school choir and won the Shining Star Award in 2009. He was also a Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) Silver Medalist in both 2010 and 2011. In 2012, Dayne relocated to the United States of America where he was able to see God open doors that he could never have imagined. He provided background vocals for Myron Butler (Grammy and Stellar Award-Winning psalmist), Geoffrey Golden, (Sunday’s Best Season 7 winner), and Jonathan Nelson (Multiple Stellar Award Winner) among others. These opportunities give new meaning to Proverbs 18:16 which says, “A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men.”

One of Dayne’s most memorable performances is when he sang the national anthem for the 50th anniversary of Job Corps, where honorary guest, Congresswoman Frederica Wilson was present. Dayne was named Artist of the Month in July of 2015 for Caribbean Gospel Buzz, a magazine and promotions company. In 2019, Dayne was nominated for Caribbean Artist of the Year by the Tampa Bay Gospel Awards. Later that year he received the True Worship Leaders Award. Dayne is also recognized in the South Florida Music Community for his contributions as a praise and worship leader and guest artist for concerts and other events.

Dayne Malcolm is a recognized recording artist and has released two cover songs. The first, “Total Praise,” was written by Mr. Richard Smallwood and is a tribute to Dayne’s mother, a constant source of encouragement, and a testament to Dayne’s unwavering faith in God. The message is simple: God has been an unfailing source of strength and is worthy of complete and total praise. Dayne’s second cover song, “America the Beautiful/God Bless America” is an arrangement of two patriotic songs, invoking God to pour out His richest blessings on America, Dayne’s adopted homeland. These recordings are available on all digital music platforms.

In the height of a pandemic Dayne launched Dayne Malcolm & Friends (DMnF) a music ministry aimed at reaching souls, and leading them to Christ. Band members include Stephanie Heron, Shanice Patten, Delano West and Luncedale Lewis. DMnF – “One God, One Praise”

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ok, so now I’m going to be a little biased. I’m from Jamaica, come on. There’s so much to offer there, however, to eat there’s no doubt but they would definitely would have to stop by Dawns Cook Shop (that’s my mothers restaurant) and right across the street to grab a drink is Headquarters Juice Bar owned and operated by my grandmother Carmen. Then we’d probably go to Ricks Café in Negril, Blue Hole, Dunn’s River Falls, and visit some local markets and just have a good time. Oh how can I forget, never visit Jamaica without trying KFC, you have not lived if you haven’t tired it. Can you tell I’m a foodie.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Well, I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to that little boy who’s dreaming about becoming all that he can be. It’s not the end of the road. Keep believing, Keep trusting, it’ll happen in your favor.

Oh it’s time for the mushy stuff. Special thanks to the following persons who contributed greatly Karen Knott Banhan “Aunty Kim” & Deverell Goldson “Uncle Deverell”, a constant push since they discovered my talents at a very tender age. My family for their never ending support, Mrs. Dottie Maud Malcolm RIP grandma, for the times we’d always grab the hymnal and burst out singing our old time favorites, my parents Dawn & Norman for supporting my dream, to my cousins what is this article without actually acknowledging you all (Jodie, Shay, Geo, George, Chris-Ann, Jessica, Camille just to name a few), my aunts Debbie, Shawn, Das, Wendie, June, Faye, Ann talk about singing wait until you hear them sing a note. My dearest sister Terri, I’m overly grateful for your support to my friends Stephanie, Anna, Lance, Tanique, Max, Andre, Rashell, Kevin, Shanice, Camille, and Demar your prayers and well wishes are greatly appreciated each time. <3

I cant thank you all enough and it’ll take a lifetime to acknowledge every single person, so if you’re reading this just note that you’re appreciated, thanked and loved.
