We had the good fortune of connecting with Irene Rivan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Irene, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
My first ideas for my business were women empowerment shirts/hoodies. My first and most popular hoodie says “women should support each other”. As someone who grew up around a lot of women I have a different type of appreciation and adoration for women. I believe we should always stick together. Now I’ve branched more into swim , which is definitely my favorite type of clothing.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am very proud of myself for keeping my business going. One of the main challenges of being a business owner is definitely encouragement & discipline. It can be easy to lose part of the vision maybe due to a bad week or a bad month. My business name includes names from both of my grandmothers. I specifically did this so I can stay motivated & for it to bring purpose. I feel that I can’t let their name be attached to failure. Both of my grandmothers, one looking down from heaven & another I currently take care of I love them both dearly.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I personally don’t go out much especially in my city, I’m more of a traveling outside person of the country or state person. I love to travel & when I do go out it’s either with my cousins or by myself. Food wise though, I would recommend brunch places like Tap 42, american social, and Yardbird. Yard bird has the best fried chicken I’ve ever had! Seriously!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Firstly, I would say my boy best friend was the primary source of me starting my business and also getting my first job. His ambition and drive makes me want to strive for greatness. Besides him, I would say my dad is my #1 supporter he’s also like my best friend, My dad inspires me to not only follow my dreams but also to be an amazing person.
