We had the good fortune of connecting with Lilly Lovely and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lilly, what’s the most difficult decision you’ve ever had to make?
I would have to say believing in myself. That was the hardest, coming from a Caribbean culture, following your dreams do not pay bills or it has to be luck never something that if you work hard you’ll make it. So when I decided to strip away everyone else expectations of me and fight for what I wanted . Oh man ! It was the most difficult decision because at that moment I was literally giving myself no other option but to make this happen. Also as a single mother, to literally quit a secured job and just solely believe that my talents were going to put food on table, and a roof over our head had to be the craziest but best thing I did , because at that moment I gave myself no other option but to believe in myself so I can follow my dreams. I knew my kids are going to be watching me and as a parent, if I want my children to follow their dreams who better than I to lead them by example. Since my younger years , Set life was this unrealistic goal. I wanted to get on one and it didn’t matter what I was doing, being a writer, art department, a director, acting, a makeup artist you name it I wanted to be it. So just to say that in 2021 I have done every one of those roles and I’m just getting started. Truly feels amazing and all because I made that decision that I knew was going to change my life forever . I thank the old me for letting the new me shine through. If it was possible for me it’s possible for anyone , only if you want it bad enough

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My energy definitely sets me apart, I want your experience with me to be memorable, funny thing is a lot of my make up clients or production workers have become amazing friends throughout my journey. So coming into this industry I definitely came as an underdog, I was back up or the make up artist that would get called last minute cause I would just jump on literally any opportunity cause I wanted it that bad. It definitely was not easy. Set life is not for the weak, the hours, the tension, the perfectionism, the different personalities, did I mention the hours already ! You gotta be built for this! But for me , set life is a playground. That’s when I knew I was meant to do this. But don’t get me wrong, I still have that underdog mentality. I’ve learned to always humble myself cause one wrong move or the wrong thing being said can have you replaced in a second! So I would give myself this mental pep talk right before every set and private client just to manifest a successful experience. So hey, I must be doing something right! I would like the world to know that creativity has no mold just like beauty has no mold. The only thing that is perfect in this world is timing. And if anyone has a doubt about that, they can book me and I promise I’ll change their mind.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well , first stop would definitely be my makeup studio, cause what type of bestfriend would I be if I didn’t give a little Lilly Lovely slayage! Of course we must visit Wynwood and create some memories with those beautiful murals which are all over the Wynwood area. I’m more of a Food Truck junkie and hole in the wall restaurants that only true Miamians knows that if I was to mention here , I would be breaking the 305 code. But I’ll definitely take my bestfriend to those secret locations. Then House of Mac, or My favorite restaurant now is Upperdeck it’s a sport bar but with a great Menu! Definitely the beach, but during the weekday, cause it’s less crowded.
Prep her for a set day with me, she can be my assistant for the day , I’m sure my bestfriend would love to be apart of the experience.
Next day, Take her to 305 Nail Spa , which is also one of locations where I provide my services, tell my friend Monica which is the owner to give my bestie the works!
Ofcourse get glammed up again and have a night out at Velvet Lounge, they have this Salmon dish that it’s to die for.
Towards the end the week some fun arcade games at Dezerland Park with my children included of course. We gotta have our inner child have some fun too.
Then finish it off with a lazy day at my house , make some dinner, create funny skits, or reels. drink some wine and call it a night cause my bestie would be leaving in the morning!
