Meet Brandee Betancourt | Founder/ Lead Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandee Betancourt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandee, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand is the quality of materials, the partnerships built with local vendors and the genuine love for what this industry is all about, celebrating special moments. When working with florals, we purchase from local wholesalers that import internationally and are in season, therefore they are fresh and long lasting. Our balloon work is all consisting of the Gemar brand, which is environmentally conscious and biodegradable. We put quality over quantity and understand the important that our sources are reliable and rich, so that our clients trust us with their gatherings. We apply this concept to all of our projects.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I derive from a visual and performing arts background. My childhood was full of culture and I was raised with the freedom to express myself. The need to be creative is adjacent to the need to breathe. I am at peace and content when brainstorming for new designs and its production. I always knew that I would grow into the type of work, whether it be dance, fashion illustration, interior design, etc. What I never realized, is that I would become a business owner and live an entrepreneurial life. Although it has not been easy and it is very difficult to manage, I am proud of myself for making the decision to and not allowing anything or anyone to hinder that journey. I’d say it all starts with oneself deciding to go for it, putting in the necessary work and remaining consistent. Success to me is loving what you do and making it a way of life. When choosing ESD for your next event, you are choosing dedication, accessibility, vendor relations, positive energy, trendy designs and a budget-conscious realist.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friends were visiting the area and wanted to enjoy the town, I would first ask them the mood they’re in. Living in a city thriving with tourists, there are so many places to go. There are lots of amazing art galleries, one-of-a-kind shopping at the local markets, water ventures, and great restaurants. I personally would wake to a good coffee or mimosa with a light read, maybe painting on the beach (of course some water action like swimming or tan after the jet ski) and a bit of shopping at the Wynwood Marketplace. A light lunch then prep for a dance night out at a club or a seafood dinner at the pier with lights.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Surely the motivation behind the start and success of ESD are my kin. Providing them with a sustainable future has always been the plan and allowing them the opportunity to participate in the creative processes is a must for as long as they’d like. Currently, they are excited about filling balloons with air, removing stems for floral arrangements, and assisting with research and keeping me “hip” to the trends.
