We had the good fortune of connecting with Randa Quraan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Randa, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
When I first started my business, I was in burnout mode. I would work 80 hour weeks and never have time to myself. That started taking a toll on my mental and physical health, and if your mind and body aren’t balanced, it can affect your overall business.
Balance now is meditating, and physical activity before my workday starts. I commit to going to a few walks during the day and shut off by five, and weekends and evenings are now spent with my daughters no matter what.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I started Socially Loud over twelve years ago, and I had no idea what it took to build a business. I was always concerned with making money and never really building the foundation along the way. It took for me to fail a few times along this path to realize what it takes genuinely.
Money is not the motive. It’s essential, yes, and needed to stay in business, but we now only work with purpose-driven brands that are making a difference in this world.
It’s important to always be authentic with everything you do. The best thing for me is storytelling and helping bring a brand’s vision to life in the most authentic way possible.
Nothing worth it is easy. You have to learn and grow with others along the way that have already paved the way. If there is a workshop, talk, series, coaching session that can help me, I am doing it. We are never too intelligent or too educated to learn something from someone else.
Being open to change is essential and continuously operating from what feels right to you is crucial.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some places we would eat:
The Alchemist
Miami Squeeze
Outside food court Aventura mall
Orzo
Tree Lion
Things we would do:
Kayaking from John Loyd State Park
Fort Lauderdale Beach
Niki Beach
Wynwood
I love anything beach and water-related. Whether it’s just a beach chair in front of the ocean or taking out a boat or Jetski. As long as there is water involved, it’s usually a good day. I also love driving through south Florida and letting the road determine where we wind up. There are so many hidden gems here, and the adventure of finding them is just as fun.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My three daughters Samyra, Jazlynn and Leilani.
