We had the good fortune of connecting with Anthony Martinez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anthony, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?

The two habits that have helped me succeed are hard work and discipline. At a young age, my father expressed to me how valuable time is and how in every moment that I was in the gym I had to take advantage of every second I was there and give it all I had. Teaching me the values of hard work and discipline.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

As a professional boxer, I love my job because I get to do what I love everyday. When I step in the ring, I feel at home. I feel confident, radiant, and happy because I get to show people what I’m good at. But like everything in life, there are obstacles to be faced. Boxing has had many hardships in my life. Many things have to be sacrificed and one must undergo many rough moments. However, those rough times have shaped me into the fighter and person I am today. The hard times make the good times even better. What I would like people to know about me is that dreams are easy to be dreamt and hard to accomplish, and that has never stopped me from trying and giving it my all. When life gets hard (remove comma) is when you’re supposed to start pushing because success is full of setbacks and those setbacks create successful people.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I was born and raised in Miami a place full of life and culture, where people are able to create long lasting memories. A city where we say it’s summer all year long. My itinerary starts with a trip on the boat to a sandbar where we can enjoy warm and clear waters, music, and food. Then, an exhilarating ride on a jet ski where you’re able to see some of the best views of my city. I’m a fan of sushi and luckily, Miami has some great restaurants that offer that. There’s also places with great music where one can dance and enjoy a night out with family and friends.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

I would like to shoutout the Mundo Boxing team, (remove “and”) my family, my father, (remove “and”)my brother, and every other member of my family who has supported me on a daily basis and has motivated me to keep thriving in the sport. Without the help of Dr. Pedro Diaz and Yordanis Despainge (Mundo Boxing Team), I wouldn’t have been able to be where I am today. Also, I want to use this moment to thank everyone who has taken the time to watch my fights, buy tickets, and who have actively supported me. The sport wouldn’t be anything without you all.
