Meet Jill Romano | Yoga Teacher & Studio Owner, Thrive Power Yoga Palm Beach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jill Romano and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jill, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
At Thrive Power Yoga Palm Beach, our mission is to bring an elevated yoga practice to as many people as possible. Our vision and method of yoga is to utilize traditional yogic principles in a modern way that enables our students to apply it to their everyday lives. We don’t just teach positive affirmation. We teach social and personal ethics, meditation and breathing exercises, along with physical yoga postures that help our students realize areas in their own thoughts and life that they can change or elevate. We help them break free from stagnant or negative patterns to realize their true, authentic selves. This modern, every-day enlightenment helps them to think more clearly, act more more objectively, and positively impact those around them. The butterfly effect of our students inner work extends to their professional and personal lives. It’s our hope that their example inspires others to take up the practice of yoga and we see more people living this way collectively throughout the world.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
As I mentioned, Thrive’s mission is to provide an elevated practice of yoga to all. We’ve carefully curated a pricing and class structure that serves people of all socioeconomic backgrounds, with traditional memberships, donation-based classes and volunteer programs in exchange for free yoga.
Our studio is unique in that our Director of Training, Karen Burnett, owns and runs the yoga teacher training programs we offer at Thrive for initial and advanced level certifications. I, as the owner of the studio, focus on studio management and operations, business development and community partnerships. This pairing allows us to focus on what we are passionate about, bringing the highest level of commitment to those aspects of the business. The result is incredible, inspiring teachers, who not only are mentored though our training programs to stay on and teach for us, but who are also supported by a business owner dedicated to their expansion and growth. Students receive top notch classes and workshops from the area’s best teachers that foster a true community connection between our staff, students and each other. All that is coupled with the convenience, consistency and professionalism usually found within a more corporate structure. We hope to open two additional locations to bring yoga to our greater area, while also maintaining an authentic local presence.
How did I get here? Well I made a lot of mistakes first, jumping in without a clear plan. After a few years of that, I did a ton of research on similar successful businesses and asked a lot of questions from my community and my staff on what they wanted in a yoga studio. I’ve learned that you should focus on the things you excel at in business and outsource the rest. I believe hiring the best staff and supporting them in their own growth is key to mutual success. I strive to keep an open mind, always listening; ready to pivot, evolve and expand when the opportunity is in line with my mission. I want you to know that you are always welcome here, just as you are. Practice with us in-studio locally or online from anywhere.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love living in northern palm beach county. When I have friends in town, I enjoy taking them to local spots that show our small-town community culture here. To eat, some of my favorites are breakfast at Hurricane Cafe in Juno Beach and lunch at U-Tiki. I love Palm Beach Island for light bites at Buccan, followed by a nightcap at HMF. My self-care go to’s are yoga at Thrive, spa treatments at Tranquil Radiance Spa, mani/pedis at Glow Salon and green smoothies at Raw Juce. For beach-going, I like checking out Locals Surf Shop for cute suits and rashguards for the whole family before heading to Jupiter beaches for the blue water views. My favorite weekend evening includes a boat ride to dinner at Riverhouse. Shopping would include my favorite boutique, TRU Palm Beach, plus Pineapple Kids, Lola Chic & Vagabond. For home- Tide & Table and Bungalow. For the kiddos, we are always up for mini-golf and lunch at Lighthouse Cove followed by a quick hop over to SB Cakery for an afternoon treat.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shout out to my husband, Dan Romano, who encouraged me to take the leap from the corporate world into yoga studio ownership after witnessing the impact my personal yoga practice had on my life. He has supported me the last nine years since we opened the studio doors, helping me assess where I could take risks to build my business to bring yoga to more people. He pushes me to rise above my doubts when I’ve questioned my ability to manage building this business while raising three kids. As a fellow entrepreneur, he inspires me with his drive to continue elevating our businesses, while working together as parents and partners.
