Meet Tammy Pahel | VP of Spa & Wellness at Carillon Miami Wellness Resort

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tammy Pahel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tammy, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
Outsiders think working is a Wellness Spa Isn’t stressful. They think I am getting massage, facials, body treatments, personal training, attending fitness classes daily, that I have my own integrative medicine doctor and nutritionist.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am most excited about my work with Carillon Miami Wellness Resort and playing an active role in the resort’s strategic planning process. I am full responsibility of all spa, health & wellness center, and fitness operations, including membership budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, fitness, salon, talent acquisition, learning and development, organizational design and employee engagement. Through my role, strategic partnerships that I’ve developed, initiatives that I helped launch, membership programs that I’ve created, I have been instrumental increasing revenue and growth for the spa, health & wellness center, and fitness operations. I have also helped expand our offerings to include Integrative Medicine, Energy Medicine, Chinese Medicine, Sex Therapy, Executive Life Coach, Nutrition as well as work with the Executive Chef in creating healthy meals for Spa & Wellness Guests. Additionally, I’ve help to update all Standards of Practice to meet Forbes Five-Star standards.
I have worked in the spa industry for many years and have the opportunity to work with wonderful properties including Nemacolin Woodland Resort & Spa, Arizona Biltmore Hotel & Spa, The Spa at Caesars Palace as well as Turnberry Isle Resort & Spa. Additionally I’ve served as a consultant for more than 15 properties across the country.
Transition is never easy, but it made me stronger and wiser. 911 and then financial turn down forced me to rethink the wellness & spa business.
Don’t be afraid of transition, learn from the past and move forward in a positive motion and be open to change and challenges
I love Carillon and what I have been allowed to achieve here in three years.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The Brickell neighborhood is where I live and it offers a great dining scene including some of my favorites: Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ, Sugar rooftop at the East for evening cocktails and great views, Tru Lucks because they have great live music and shopping at the Brickell City Center Mall.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
