We had the good fortune of connecting with Chinelo Fleary and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chinelo, what do you want your legacy to be?
I want my people to remember to remember by the woman who said she was going to do it, with no hesitation or reservation. Throughout my life Ive been the catalyst and bod for pretty much everyone and thing in my life and I was always left for last or not at all. Last year around this time I became a doer and set my mind to something and made it happen. I don’t want people to remember me by how good of a person I was or how much I meant to them I want my legacy to be one of a doer who inspire other to live their wildest dream, make it happen and walk in their truth.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Im passionate about young minds and being an agent of change in their life =, no matter the capacity. Aside from coming fro a long line of self-made and self-sufficient individuals, I also come from a long line of educators. Growing up, kids seem to always be around and I couldn’t stomach the thought of falling into ranks of education. As I grew and mind began to expand. I started to learn to appreciate and accept my calling. The ability to breathe life into and individual is the most powerful took you can possess, and I have it , I was born with it. My brand is an extension of me. my love for education and life and the ability to constantly do better.

Ma’at Nail Polish was simple an idea that came to life with will, persistence, a little bit out self-doubt and humbleness. It wasn’t so much about having this amazing idea of infusing CBD oil in nail polish but having an idea, revising, thinking about it for only a minute and going for it, Ma’at Nail Polish is what I call my ” COVID baby business”, was conceived in the middle of our local grocery store.

The sole purpose of the company was just to push my boundaries, do what most people see as impossible and in the process be a instrument of inspiration and change, breaking generational curses and not only create generational wealth making paths for generational trailblazer, thinkers and innovators.

Im not a beauty influencer, Im not a instagram model turned business women, Im simply a black women finding innovative and creative solution to the things that impact us most and reclaim our position where we have the most influence; the beauty industry.

Everything with Ma’at Nail Polish was intentional, from the names of the polish, which allow for some type of connection to the user to the logo and the placement of the feather replacing the apostrophe in Ma’at name.
Behind everything there is a story worth telling and worth listening .

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Miami is the most beautiful city in the world. A week long trip isn’t complete until you’ve traveled through all the inner cities that has contributed to so many young blacks success. Overtown is now reclaiming its rightful place as a culture and culinary hub for so many people of color, the heart and soul of Miami, those inner city schools and back allies where you can always catch the neighbored panhandler giving lessons only experience and life could teach you. The store on every corner that always seems to be open and light always to be one.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Credit is due to the highest for always providing what is necessary for growth, My family has taught me to trust in myself, thanking them for the hard lesson in life

Melanie Fleary, Ian Fleary, Mela Fleary, Nkemdilim Okpala , Victor Fleary and Nkechi Okpala. I thank those who I’ve come in contact along the way the either has helped or hurt me along the way because without those lessons I wouldn’t be here today and have the mindset I have. People are necessary, good and bad. My success and failures are nothing without people.

I would also like to thank all those who assisted my on my journey, whether they are here or not. Your purpose was served in my life and for that I am forever grateful.

The CBD component in the nail polish was inspired by my mother who had to stop using traditional nail polish because her arthritis. Her nail bed was dying because of the injection should take for the pain. If the injection were not harmful enough the traditional nail polish were made with resin and formaldehyde and other harmful chemicals and the UV used to cure your nails literally was breaking down and thins our nails and damaging the skin. Not only was important to make it vegan and cruelty -free and also 10-free, which basically means it free of 10 most common harmful ingredients found in nail polish.
