We had the good fortune of connecting with Ramona DeSantis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ramona, what do you attribute your success to?
Quality, Consideration and Consistency. In the hair and more specifically, the “blow dry bar” industry, you cannot build a brand or reputation without providing a high quality, consistent service. Customers need to have an expectation that when they come into the salon, regardless of who is servicing them, the same level of attention and the same excellent result will be achieved each time.

Consideration is of highest importance for both your clients and your staff. We have been fortunate enough to have many of the same members of our team working with us since the day we opened our doors. You absolutely need your staff to be on board with your mission, own your brand and deliver consistent quality. It is important that they understand how to treat your customers and that is most easily accomplished by treating them with the respect they deserve.

We could never deliver the level of service we do without our talented and dedicated team. Being considerate of them and of our customers is what has been the driving factor in our success. Get your team behind you, have them strive to be the best there is out there, and the rest will fall into place!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am practicing CPA/ VP of Accounting for Software Company in South Florida. I believe understanding financials and the impacts of day-to-day numbers is paramount to building a successful business. Everything I have learnt over the course of my professional career; I apply to day to day operations for The Blowout.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love going to Los Olas, Lauderdale by the Sea and the Pompano Beach/ restaurant area.

My favorite restaurants/ bars to go hang out at are: Blue Moon Fish Company, Vinnies, Oceanic and Foundry. I always think it’s a lot of fun to head to Los Olas for dinner and either hop on the water taxi, go on the Jungle Queen or do something along the amazing intercoastal.

I would also take a day trip up to Palm Beach, hit the Breakers- maybe a little spa day!

South Beach is also always a must see- walking down Lincoln Road or hitting some of the hotel bars and restaurants on Ocean Drive is always a good time!

Since Covid I have also fallen in love with driving my electric bike around town. I take all my visitors on that trip. My favorite trip is down AIA to Deerfield. Talk about a scenic drive!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The Blowout’s Management, Staff, my husband, family and friends!

Without Alicia and Ashli (managers) and our incredible team there is no way we would be where we are today (and thank you for dealing with my craziness.

My husband James, sister Joey, family and friends for being die hard supporters of The Blowout and rolling with me through all the ups and downs we have experienced through this incredible journey!
