We had the good fortune of connecting with Monica Crowley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Monica, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
To save and enrich as many dog’s lives as I can. Dogs are selfless beings who love us unconditionally. They deserve the absolute best from us. One of the best things we can give our dogs is the right perspective on the role they play in our lives, and the right way to train them. For example, sadly, many dog owners (who genuinely love their dog) use shock and prong collars in order to “make them obedient.” They have been misled to think their dog needs to be shocked or spiked. This couldn’t be farther from the truth. I will always strive to spread that message and educate people on how humane, science based, force-free training can work effectively and enrich their dog’s life, as well as create a really beautiful relationship of mutual understanding between them and their dog.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Force free dog training! Pretty simple. My dog training is 100% committed to being force free and humane. I will never suggest a method that would cause harm (mentally or physically) to your dog. Every dog and owner’s situation is very unique. I try to create a plan based on the unique needs of the dog and owner, while doing it in a force free way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Take the dogs for a long trail walk at Hugh Birch State Park and have a beer at Parks & Rec. Dinner and then drinks and live music at Chops & Hops, my favorite spot for a cocktail. My brother opened it a few years ago so it’s my go-to hang out. Then we’d end the night at their new speakeasy next door called Mama Hanks.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Angelica Steinker from Courteous Canine, a force free dog training company in Tampa. Angelica mentored me and was the first dog training job I had before starting my own company here in Fort Lauderdale. Also, High Forest Humane Society, where we adopted our two dogs Moki and Dublin! Lots of beautiful dogs there that need to be rescued.
