We had the good fortune of connecting with HOLLY ALGOOD and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi HOLLY, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
For many years I coached business and nonprofit leaders and decided to put put my words into action. I enjoy the freedom and creativity owning my own business offers.
What should our readers know about your business?
Algood Hawai’i is a boutique real estate company on the north end of Hawai’i Island. We work with customers to sell, buy and manage properties of all sizes. As an owner of agriculture, residential and commercial properties, I have the experience to help clients with a broad range of needs. I especially enjoy any projects involving green and sustainable building. Our home and farm is totally off-grid utilizing solar and wind power for all electric and well water for irrigation. Our buildings utilize many unique green products including bamboo, American Clay earth plaster, soy foam insulation and blue jean insulation, native hardwood flooring, recycled furnishing and even green artwork.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Our island is the size of Connecticut with 11 different microclimates. Most visitors underestimate the size and variety of places on the island. I personally most enjoy walking along the shore, swimming at Mahukona, a historic bay from where cattle and sugar were shipped and now an exceptionally beautiful park. I like to order food from Kohala food hub where local growers offer their fresh fruits, vegetables and unique locally made products. I love to picnic at one of the dozens of ocean parks or cook at home and eat on our lanai overlooking the ocean. There are endless day trips to places like Volcanoes National Park or Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Park, both staggeringly beautiful yet so different. I also would take visitors to the top of Mauna Kea for spectacular star gazing and to the wonderful assortment of farmers markets. At the south end of the island is a green sand beach. We also have black sand beaches and white sand beaches all offering intense beauty and contact with mature. Whales, dolphins, sea turtles and colorful tropical fish grace the waters and can be enjoyed at a distance from canoes, stand up paddle boards or a snorkel dive. The possibilities are limitless.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The people working in our company are a diverse group of professionals that make our company tick like clockwork. I love that they each bring different skills and talents to our business and our customers. They make sure we offer high quality services to everyone who walks thru our doors whether at our office in downtown Hawi on the Big Island of Hawai’i, over the phone or thru the internet. Erin Pajimola, Cielito Rooney and MK Letterman are our core Realtors and we are in the process of added more realtors to keep up with the high demand for our services.
