We had the good fortune of connecting with Olina Rose and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Olina, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my business’s stood on 3 main goals. 1: to empower and employ black women
2. to invest in and be a pillar in the community
3. to be an example of success to inspire others.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Everything that I do is Art. From nails to fashion to hair to marketing…I think that sets me apart. I’m working and moving in my craft every second of ever day. And I love it.

I would say I got to where I’m at by actively practicing my crafts daily and not being afraid of being hands on and doing the ground work early on. Most times it wasn’t easy buy I’d look around and ask myself “what else can I be doing at this present moment?” Nothing would come to mind, so I just stayed on that path that was working in my favor.

I’m constantly learning and growing but one lesson I’ve most recently learned is to never forget to make yourself priority.

One thing I want people to know about my brand is that it started with a thought. If you can think it, you can achieve it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d definitely do brunch at Honey Uninhibited. Have some drinks at LeChick in Wynwood. We’d do a day party at Fountain Bleu, stroll south beach and just relax, really.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Omg. First I have to thank God and my family,, my mom and my brothers and my grabdmother. My LA clients who have been rocking with my since day one. My newest Miami clients and all the wonderful people I’ve met on this journey of opening the 2nd location. Also, my celebrity clients who kept me around, Issa Rae, ASAP Rocky and Cicely Tyson, may she rest her beautiful soul in peace.
