Meet Giselle Gonzalez | Book Blogger & Book Publicist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Giselle Gonzalez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Giselle, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“Comparison is the thief of joy.” This is definitely an affirmation of mine that I try to remind myself of daily. I feel like it’s very easy in this day and age to get caught up in what others are doing and how you compare and I’ve definitely found myself in moments of comparison and feeling as if I fall short, but it’s always important to remind yourself that everyone’s journey is different and everyone’s pace is perfect for their own journey!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started my book blog / bookstagram when I was 15 and it has truly led me to where i am today at 24. What started as a space for me to scream about my favorite books has turned into a community that centers around reading, travel, my own professional journey in publishing, and living life to the fullest. I definitely struggled with creative block along the way but I’ve learned to be easy on myself and be patient. The community I’ve fostered understands that social media burnout is real and they’re truly a community that I like to think cares about me! I want the world to know that with determination and passion, it is possible for your dreams to come true. Professionally & personally I’m someone who constantly likes to keep myself busy. So on top of my personal social media accounts, I work as a publicist at a major NYC publisher. I also have a personal project in the works that will focus on PR & social media cause the grind never stops!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When my best friends come to visit I always make sure we hit up the below spots! 1) Bluestone Lane for Brunch
2) Williamsburg for great eats & shops
3) MO Lounge, especially for great views of Central Park
4) Freehold for dancing!
5) Urban Jungle in Buschwick for thrifting
6) Domino Park for views of the City

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely wouldn’t be where I am without the support of my parents who’ve supported me through all my endeavors! My friend Natasha who inspired me to start screaming about books on the internet, and the incredible publicists who inspired me to pursue a career in book publishing! There’s so many more people I could thank but they know who they are!
