Meet James Shepherd | Interview Response

We had the good fortune of connecting with James Shepherd and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi James, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Freedom from the constant worry of financial security & stability. We’re conditioned to think that success can only come from following the traditional typical roles laid out for us by our parents, teachers, and predecessors. We don’t think to look outside that box that society puts around our minds for different means to secure an income whilst still having a passion for what it is you do to secure it. It was my dream to break that mold and step out on faith, my talent, and the partnerships and bonds that have helped build my own company and provide me with a living that I love to do. Doesn’t get much better then being your own boss and getting paid to be a creative.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a singer/songwriter that co-own Plybck Studios and Production LLC. Its a partnership developed between myself and 4 other producers and three other song writers. Went opened out facility in the mist of the pandemic and have prospered and leveled to lengths we didn’t possible considering the state of the world at this moment. We started off and continue too operate as a production company and have done publication for a number of highly established artist including Kidak Black, Farruko, & Pit Bull. It has not been a easy road to this point but that’s what defines it and has helped strengthen us in order to get here.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
sun bathing on Haul over beach with mimosa’s for breakfast, Bruch in Wynwood,
Lunch on the beach after hitting the mall
drinks on los Olas,
fall asleep then repeat

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wanna dedicate my shout out to PlyBck Music LLC. who’s been my family and the only reason I am where I am today. Their trust and support and fellowship have been entirely responsible for any and all of my success.
