We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand, WinHers United the podcast, has been consistency. Over my journey so far I have discovered that showing up can be the hardest part for many people, yet when we do not show up we miss out on so many opportunities. With podcasting there is a term called podfade. Podfade is when a podcaster starts a podcast, then drops it without any notice to the listeners. Although there are millions of podcast created, there are not millions of podcasters consistently putting out content. As a result of my consistency in podcasting I have received numerous speaking engagements, obtained various milestones in relation to downloads and countries reached, received accolades and awards for my podcast, and fostered an amazing community of Women of Color entrepreneurs. Without being consistent this would not have been possible.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

WinHers United the podcast is your one stop shop for business, mindset, personal development, and self-care conversations with Women of Color entrepreneurs. At WinHers United we help aspiring and current entrepreneurs level up both personally and professionally via the information and insight that is shared.

What sets WinHers United the podcast apart is our focus on Women of Color who are entrepreneurs. Women of Color are starting businesses at one of the highest rates, so having a place to learn from these women has been instrumental in the journey of many people. Also making space for Women of Color who face a double systematic disadvantage is our effort to level the playing field for these ladies.

Hardwork, consistency, and dedication is how I’ve come to where I am today. The work itself is not hard in podcasting; however, there are many moving pieces to account for. What has been the most difficult thing to over come was self-doubt and imposter syndrome. I believe mindset plays a large role in entrepreneurship, and I have to face and overcome many mental challenges.

Along the way I have the learned that I define what success looks like for myself, and it is self defeating to compare my journey with the journey of others. I find it important and necessary to celebrate all of my accomplishments whether big or small.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my friend was in the area I would take them to eat at The Licking. I love the fried lobster and fried conch there. I would also take them on a sight seeing ride along the Metrorail to see the buildings, while hopping on and off wherever we like. Lastly we would go on a cruise to view the celebrity homes in the area.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The individual and communities that has been instrumental in my success in podcasting is Chris Krimitsos, the Florida Podcast Association, and Podfest. I attended a Podcasting 101 workshop in my area when I was thinking about podcasting, and after talking with and being inspired by Chris I started my podcast. The Florida Podcast Association and Podfest are communities that Chris created where podcasters come together to learn and support each other. Without Chris and these communities I do not know where I would be in my podcasting journey.
