We had the good fortune of connecting with Crystal Marie Young and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Crystal Marie, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Taking risks is literally how I live my life..lol. Which can be identified as a blessing and a curse to some people. Once upon a time, I played by society’s rules and followed the family standards that were laid out for me. I am thankful for the guidance that my family provided but if I can be honest, I didn’t get the results that I was told I would get. If you get good grades, go to college,.blah blah blah,.you’ll find a great job and can afford any and everything you want. You know the whote picket fence, American Dream that doesn’t really exist anymore. I played by the rules and didn’t get the result that I thought I deserved from doing everything I was suppose to do. I looked at my life at the age of  25, and I said, “Oh Hell No!”

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I definitely have to shout out the women in my family. Even though I wasn’t specifically taught to be an entrepreneur they showed me how to lay the foundation. My mother and my aunts all had businesses whether they considered it a side hustle or not. They were bosses in their own right but still able to exude femenine energy. My mother sold Avon. She was one of the top sellers in the area. I use to help package orders and wrote her name and contact info on the back of the catalogues. My aunt owned a daycare center. She converted a house into a daycare center. I would work there in the summers. My other aunt use to do nails in her basement. I remember siting by the basement door snooping on “grown folks” conversation. My other aunt was an OBGYN who owned her own practice, I was able too shadow her as well. I didn’t know then but these women were the foundation. They taught me that you should always have something to call your own. How big or small it is is up to you.
