Hi Cathiana, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Growing up, I was scared of taking risks because I was afraid of the unknown. I lived my life in fear of “what-ifs”. Due to this fear, I literally never took risks that would affect my education or my future career. I woke up one day realizing that I should do more with my life. This realization did not come from not being successful, in fact, for someone my age I was actually excelling. I started my career at an early stage of my life and completed all my degrees at a decent age however it was not enough. After speaking with several friends at the time, those conversations led to one conclusion: Just do it!

The next day, I bought myself a notebook from Target and began jotting down some ideas to begin my own skincare brand. Why skincare? Skincare has been my passion for as long as I can remember. I, myself, suffered from an array of skin related issues. I say all this to say, not all risks are bad risks. I took a risk creating my own business and I have never been happier. I finally tapped into something I feel like I was meant to do all this time. Of course, taking a risk comes with its challenges however I would rather deal with the challenges of something that I love than living my life full of regrets.

Elsea Skin is a natural skincare brand that is passionate about enhancing your skin’s natural beauty. Elsea Skin caters to all skin types by utilizing hand-selected, quality ingredients to allow your skin to achieve maximum transformation. We created this brand to bring forth awareness to simple ingredients and simple routines that achieve results.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would not be anywhere without God so all praise to him. I also want to give credit to my boyfriend who is always there supporting me and motivating me to dream bigger. I also want to give credit to my parents and siblings who is always there to listen to my ideas and keeping me on my toes.
