We had the good fortune of connecting with Carolina and María Paula Orlando Picnic and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carolina and María Paula, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Orlando Picnic was born as a hobby during the pandemic, and to be honest we never thought I’d become what it is today. As we were looking for different and safe ways to celebrate special occasions outdoors we stumbled upon the picnic idea and thought it would be a great alternative during the given times.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Orlando Picnic is a family business of 3. We are Carolina, Yezid and Maria Paula. Each one of us has contributed with our own talents to make this business grow and succeed. From booking reservations, designing picnics from scratch, keeping a cohesive feed and sharing posts, to creating hand crafted tables and materials (donut wall, background props, etc), and of course setting up for our guests, we make the magic happen behind the scenes! Together, we have hospitality, business and marketing backgrounds that make it easier to navigate through owning a business and everything that comes with it.

When you book your Orlando Picnic you may meet one of us or you may also run into one of our two awesome team members Manuela and Leticia, all of us with the same focus on making your picnic look amazing, unique and special for every occasion!

Having a small business requires a lot of time and sacrifices. We all have side jobs and had to learn to balance our daily lives while also carrying on with the constant needs of Orlando Picnic. We have overcome many challenges from the very first day but with organization and a set plan of action we are persistently working to improve and bring the best product for our guests. We have overcome obstacles that have made us stronger and confident in our businesses each and every day.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would definitely take them for a stroll around International drive, Downtown Disney and for some great food and drinks we’d make a stop at Tori Tori on Mills Ave.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
