We had the good fortune of connecting with Tetiana Zverieva and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tetiana, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I was born and raised in Ukraine, I was working in a bank there and it was just very boring. I decided I wanted to try to get into the beauty industry, because I loved doing makeup, and was a makeup artist as a hobby.
My boyfriend and I decided to move to the U.S. for better opportunities. Before I left, I researched what type of beauty services were most popular in America, because I loved doing makeup but I also wanted to see what else was out there in the beauty industry. I landed on eyelashes. I absolutely love having mine done, and I’ve been getting them done for the past 10 years. So many people have told me why I don’t just learn how to do them myself, so I decided yeah, I have to! I took some courses in Ukraine, and it was one of the most challenging things I’ve ever done. It was so hard, but I’m a Capricorn, I always achieve my goals. If I want to do something, there’s no way that I’m not getting it done. I ended up doing around 3-4 courses in Ukraine before moving to the U.S. When I moved here around 2016, I still kept practicing while I went to university, and worked doing lashes from home. Starting out doing full sets of lashes for $50, in between classes and coursework. Around that time, I broke up with my boyfriend and just like that, I was alone here in the U.S. with no money, documents, and a stack of bills. I felt like I needed to move back to my country, I couldn’t make it here on my own.
But I did.
Fast forward to present day: I’m now charging upwards $300 for a signature set of lashes, have won international awards for my lash sets, teach monthly lash classes, have my own lash studio in a beautiful building, live in Fort Lauderdale with my husband and dog, and I get to do what I love. I wouldn’t have been able to get to this point without the values and principles I grew up with in Ukraine. Ukrainians are one of the most hardest working and beautiful people in the world. We’re used to having to fight to survive and work hard what we want. This is who I am and this is how I got to where I am.
What should our readers know about your business?
Tati Lashes Studio was fully realized around 2018. It’s my baby. I love creating beautiful lash looks, and boosting the confidence of all these people who trust me to spend hours with them to make them look and feel more beautiful. I like to think what helps us stand apart is our level of professionalism and warmth. We like to do things correctly and professionally, but we care so much for our clients. They are extensions of our family definitely. The level of trust is unparalleled. I appreciate each and everyone of them. Without them there is no Tati Lashes Studio. There’s definitely been some obstacles in the past, like whether or not we were going to move to a bigger space, or lash artists leaving us, but come what may, Tati Lashes will be here providing an amazing service for our lovely clients. I just want the whole world to know that I love what I do.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh I love this! There’s so many places that I would consider adding to this, so I’ll try to condense it. I think we would need to do a whole tour of Florida. You can’t just pick one place.
We would definitely need to go to Naples to go watch the sunset. There is absolutely nothing like it, in my opinion. And of course, have to stop by for some fresh seafood. We’d have to go to St. Petersburg and go to the Downtown there, shop and walk around, it’s so lovely there. Oh then, Palm Beach and we must go to The Breakers for some amazing brunch and relaxation. Have to stop at Brickell, for sure, to take in all those beautiful shops and restaurants, I love walking my Pomeranian named Casper throughout all the sights and scenery, he loves interacting with anyone who gives him a moment. At the end of the tour, my final stop would be Ft. Lauderdale, where I live. We’d all go to Shooters Waterfront and have the most amazing tapas, sushi and drinks with my friends and family.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
If there’s anyone I feel I should definitely thank, it would be Aisha. Aisha, is this amazing lash professional and life coach in Ukraine, who really helped me really find out who I am but also what I am capable of. She taught me how to be a lash artist, and then furthered my knowledge with educating me in meditation, personal growth, and general life courses. I use the methods that I’ve learned with her everyday to achieve the goals that I set out for myself.
