We had the good fortune of connecting with Monika Cortez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Monika, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I have been travelling around the world for years and my friends always asked me: where are you? When I started to use Instagram I decided to create an account to share with my friends my travel experiences and the account started to grow a people from different places around the world started to follow me and travel with me through my pictures, stories etc. When I started to receive direct messages, questions and the people started to follow my adventures and decide to create a better content, more professional…

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have more than 20 years of experience working in marketing and this is an important support in my current project because when you create content and share your experience with the audience is really important to have all the tools to manage your message, your objectives, your target and the most important is the knowledge about digital marketing and social media.

I am so proud because I know that a lot of people that cannot travel for different circunstances (health issues, lack of money, lack of time etc.) can travel with me or through me and they enjoy all my adventures, they feel that they are in countries that they are sure that they never will visit and I can make them feel a little bit of happiness or they can be outside of their problems during the time that they enjoy my content.

Be a succesful women is not easy, everything is based on the effort, I was born in Venezuela and when I was 21 years I started my life in Europe, alone, and step by step I started to grow my carreer, demonstating to the local companies all that I could do, after looking for an international opportunity, fighting for my dreams and finally I can say that I found it,

I make most of my dreams comes true and after that I started my own project because after work for different international brands I wanted to work for my own brand, my own project.

A lot of times I found obstacles, I felt alone, I had economic problems but always always I followed my heart, I followed my dreams I never stopped to fight until find all my objectives.

I have learned a lot of lessons but the main one is that dreams are possible and can come true if you try hard enough.

I want the world to know that I will continue travelling around the world, showing to the people the diversity and the importance to accept all the cultures, all the people, all the religions, showing to my followers that they have never give up and continue dreaming, because travel is not about money is about to find the way to do it, because you can travel depend of your pocket but always travel and if you cannot go to a country in a different continent you can travel in your own city but travel is always positive and we can do it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Miami is always a great plan…

In Miami you will find the best of the latin culture and a perfect mix between USA and all Latinamerica.

If a friend of mine visit Miami of course he has to visit Wynwood because in my opinion is one of the best areas of the city. Wymwood walls in the first place to be visited. the culture, the art, the street art that you can find there is amazing and you can take a lot of interesting pictures and if you have enough money you can buy incredible modern art treasures.

Wynwood art district is perfect to walk, yo enjoy their streets and stop in different restaurants, pubs and very different places where you can eat and drink feeling that you are in different places of the world.

I love “Cervecería La tropical” where you can drink a lot of different craft beers and try different food from different latinamerican countries.

If you want a litlle bit of shopping you have a lot of different alternatives. If you are fashion victim you can go to the Miami design art distric where you can find the mail fashion brands in the world, you also have the possibility to visit different shopping malls and spend all the day there.

Go to 8th street is always a good plan, you can feel there that you are in a Caribbean island and the music envolve the enviroment and this is an experience that you should live.

Of cpurse if you want to enjoy the beach, South beach is your place, kilometers of beach, with a blue water and a wonderful athmosphere make you feel that you are in a movie, you can see beautiful people, practice different sports and enjoy the wonderful weather of Miami all the year.

Miami is full of interesting museums, my favourites are Vizcaya museum and gardens and Pérez art museum where you can spend several hours and of course take a wonderful pictures.

If you want to enjoy a different dinning experience, you have to visit the restaurant Barton G, where you will enjoy a different experiencie eating a delicious and espectacular dishes and drinking a very specials cocktails. Be careful, if you want to go there, you should make a reservation with enough time because is one of the most visited restaurants in Miami.

The best of Miami is the weather and the people, the mix of culture that you can find there will bring you a wonderful experience.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
1.- My parents: because I started to travel when I was child. My parents always travelled with me and all the vacations I went to a different countries and I learned how wonderful is the world and the importance to learn about different cultures.

2.- My mom: because after my father passed away, she continued doing the necessary to make me travel and study in different countries and learn more and more about different people in different places.

3.- My husband: because he is my “partner in crime” he used to go with me to almost all my trips and each time that I decide to go to an uncommon country he always support all my decisions and follow all my steps around the world.
