Meet Stacy Bauer | Author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Stacy Bauer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stacy, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
I am a mom and teacher from Minneapolis, MN. I’ve always had a dream of becoming a published author. A few years ago, I decided to try and make that dream happen. Since then, I have started my own publishing company, Hop Off the Press, LLC and self published 11 books (2 series). I have also consulted with and helped hundreds of other people with their author journey. My series Cami Kangaroo and Wyatt Too is a funny, relatable series that helps teachers and parents and their kids with every day problems such as healthy eating, organization, screen time, being kind and more! The books have reached thousands of kids around the world and won numerous awards. My other series, Young Change Makers, features kids around the world who are doing things to create positive change in their communities. They are helping people, animals and the environment. There are three books published so far and we are doing 4 more (at least). These books are bringing hope to the world and inspiring others to make a difference too!

What should our readers know about your business?
I started writing when I was a child and published my first book in 2018. In 2019, I started my own publishing company. It was not easy, because I didn’t know anything about publishing or business at all, since I was a teacher. I had to learn it all myself, which I did, through reading, courses, videos, talking to other authors etc. I have learned to be a risk taker, to take a chance on myself, to be patient and flexible.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If someone was visiting Minneapolis, I would honestly take them out on our pontoon, since we live on a lake. I think that’s one of the best things about where we live- we see and hear loons, bald eagles, swans and more. Sometimes we even see the northern lights!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A huge thank you to my husband Will for his constant support of my dream. He is my biggest fan. To my kids, Cami and Wyatt, for allowing me to write about them. To my parents and sisters for cheering me on. And to all of my author friends whom I’ve made on this journey- I wouldn’t have been able to do this without you!
