Meet Alex Bellanton | Private Tutor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Bellanton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alex, can you tell us about a book that has had a meaningful impact on you?
One of my favorite books is “More Beautiful Than Before: How Suffering Transforms Us” by Steve Leder. No matter who you are, where you’ve been, how successful you’ve become…we’ve all dealt with some form of pain and suffering. Regardless of how big or small the circumstance – whether that’s losing a job, failing at an endeavor, a breakup, or even death, pain breaks us wide open. What you decide to do with that pain and suffering is where there is an opportunity to reinvent ourselves and become newer and more whole versions of ourselves. “More Beautiful Than Before” speaks to the stages of that pain and suffering and offers a guide to healing and becoming a new and more whole versions of ourselves. As an entrepreneur, I experience failure and loss, constantly. But keeping in mind the learning opportunities that the pain presents, helps me move forward in ways that only make me better and more valuable than I was before, to my clients.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
For me, the most important thing as an educator is to always put relationships before task. Working with students, they want to know that you care before they care about what you know. That was instilled in me in my earliest days in education and it’s been the guiding principle in my career.
As for lessons I’ve learned along the way – I think knowing and understanding that you will fail along the way, but that failure does not mean that you aren’t capable. You have to use those failures as opportunities to learn, grow and become a better and more complete version of yourself.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Whenever I have friends visiting Miami, the first place I take them is the beach. Living in warm weather and nearby warm water is hands down the best thing about living here. If we’re looking to have a high-energy day, I’d take them to South Beach where it’s much more a party atmosphere. If we’re looking for a relaxing and low-key beach day, I’d take them to Key Biscayne and enjoy the beach there.
There are countless restaurants we’d visit. One of my favorites is The River Oyster Bar in Brickell. I’m a seafood lover and they have a nice variety of classic seafood dishes in addition to having great ambience. If we were hungry for a burger, we’d definitely go to Lokal in Coconut Grove. They have unique burgers that are delicious and sourced locally.
One of my favorite workouts is Red Bike Miami, located in Brickell (Indoors), Midtown (Indoors) and South Beach (Outdoors). It’s a great workout and a way to meet pretty cool locals.
As for places to visit, one of the gems of Miami is the Perez Art Museum. The building itself is so well-designed and aesthetically pleasing, they have a wonderful restaurant on site, great art, and the best park in Miami which borders Biscayne Bay.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people to thank for helping me along this journey, but I want to give a special shoutout to the Noble and Greenough School – the school that believed in me as both a student and the school that gave me my first opportunity in education. Without their belief in my ability to become a great educator and without them giving me the platform and support that I needed to grow individually and professionally, my career journey would have never been possible.
